Just curious what would be the best price/performance upgrade I could make currently? I would prefer to stay with nvidia. Thanks

I went from a GTX 680 4gb to a GTX 670 4gb in Oct and it is the smarest buy I have ever made.
the 970 overclocks like a beast and performs just like the dollar 980.
I'm running the Gigabyte G1 Gaming

On the AMD side of things... Rumors say we'll see a revised 290X soon (which will match the 970 at best), followed by a truly new GPU with a new kind of memory some time later. I bet it'll be slightly faster than the 980/970, and slightly slower than the next Titan. A huge, 290X-like GPU will come some time later.

So buying a 970 now isn't a bad idea. It'll be like the GTX 680/770 when new GPUs come out: not cutting edge, but still fast.

Pick up a 970 you can't go wrong. I just got 2 with a 3rd on the way and the testing I'm working on now is crazy how fast these cards are they are trading blows with my 4way 4Gb 680s. Was just running my friends 970 with mine for tri sli and it's crazy fast.

I really like the looks of the zotac amp extreme. Though I guess I won't see it unless I am working on the computer. I have read good things about all of them, and it will prob put it under water eventually so should I just go for the cheapest 970?

Not sure that 3rd is a good idea, especially at large resolutions. It mirrors what some reviews have expressed with tri sli in general.

I am thinking about buying a 970 today. I can get a GeForce GTX 970 G1, or a PNY XLR8 GeForce GTX 970. the PNY is $30 cheaper. is the gigabyte worth the extra $30? thanks

the Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 is worth the extra money, it has a backplate, is overclocked from the factory, has a 4 heat pipe cooler, has better power phase with a 6 pin and 8 pin power connectors, has 3 fans that are quiet, and the fan shroud is aluminum and not plastic. I have this graphics card and it's the best imo.

Ok thanks. I liked the sound of the lifetime warranty on the PNY. I have only used 1 PNY card though back in the 90's so no real experience with them. I have read a lot about the Gigabyte G1 though and most people seem to agree it is the one to get. just thought I would ask before I pulled the trigger.

I have always owned PNY, this is my first Gigabyte. the PNY lifetime warranty is for the life of the gpu so in other words if it fails after a newer gpu is released
then you have no warranty. it's in the fine print, for instance if say you have a GTX 580 that failed after the release of the GTX 680 then that was the end of life for your 580
and there is no warranty.
