In a well ventilated room a argon/nitrogen leak may even go undetected until you realize the glovebox has higher ppm water and oxygen than should be.

The issue is more if it's a leak at the tank, not at the glovebox. There's enough gas in a standard tank to fill the room several dozen times over.

There's a LOT of force and volume of gas in tanks.

That's the more spectacular failure, but a slow leak in a confined space is even more dangerous.

Understand, the reason I brought those up was to demonstrate just how much gas is a tank.

Watching a slow leak... it's hard to appreciate how much volume is in tanks.
Once again...

Argon tanks used are usually 20L 200 bar or 4000NL. It should not be a problem unless the valves fail. It's just a minor danger when working under an inert environment under gas flow.

liquid nitrogen is far more dangerous.

I don't remember exactly the % when you can start to feel something, and the % that will possibly kill you so if anyone have these numbers I would gladly appreciate it.

Nothing wrong with LG Factory, a leak can happen, even in the most controlled environment. Still sad for those 2 mans. Hopefully LG will send a few peeps checking all the pipes and connection.

When you start talking like Barry White... you know something is wrong. Sucks that this stuff happens, but as long as they learn from it, that's all we can ask.

Because OSHA is helpful amirite? The market was already regulating itself before OSHA came into being. Only creates more regulatory burdens for employers.

More on topic, being that this is South Korea I would presume that they have their own regulatory agency that monitors and regulates for safety?

OSHA does nothing but fine people for the stupidest little things with absurd amount of money and let all the dangerous things sneak by without even a 2nd thought. Even their regulations for many things are completely retarded and very unsafe.

Worst thing that's happened to me at work was I set up a acid digest, then forgot to turn on the hood. I realized my mistake once I started coughing and tearing up. biggrin.gif

This was an accident an probably caused by human error. Regulations were probably handles except for that one potential slipup. Investigation should take place.
