I was figuring the i3 would bottleneck slightly. So best thing to do budget wise is to just settle for the new R9 280 i would think. I forgot to ask what resolution are you currently at and for what gaming titles?

I would recommend updating to haswell because the h61 is very limiting or goinf used with sandy/ivy bridge because some games will need more than a stock clocked i5

it will be 1920x1080p and main title im planning on at the moment is GTA5, but i also like the FC series and also battlefield and CoD, fifa.. but from what ive read ill be sticking to fc3 for the time being and also with battlefield 3 as i dont see the need to buy the newest at the moment as i dont see the difference in them really and also fc4 is badly optomised as far as i can tell

Far Cry 4 is badly optimized but lately has not been an issue for half the users if they are on a single card. the 3GB of vram for the r9 280 will be plenty for those titles at 1080P

I would personally feel better buying a second hand CPU over a second hand GPU. GPUs tend to have a much higher failure rate over CPUs.
