[BlogGSMArena] Windows 7 “mainstream support” ends tomorrow - Page 6

Security patches are still good for a while and at least win10 is a seemingly acceptable compromise. Never got around to playing with the demo.

Your post didn't contribute anything. As for cost it appears as though they're talking about upgrading; win7 is free if you already have it vs purchasing a new OS.

You can't have your opinion! You're wrong! Etc....

8/8.1/S12 are ugly and hard to navigate.

After all this time MS still haven't fixed the ridiculous stub errors in Win 8.x. Every time I start something on my Win 8.1 laptop I get a stub error and have to start it again. It's infuriating and I hate Win 8.x because of it. The blind fanboys can ignore this problem all they want but it's a rampant issue in Win 8.

Personally I've only had the bad experience of using win 8 for a short while on a touch screen laptop and a non-touch screen laptop and I have to say that the OS is MOST defiantly not optimized for keyboard and mouse which is where I see most of the complaints coming and they are right from what I could tell.

Sadly they only took touch into consideration and from what I could tell from 8.x it was just a slight improvement, enough to keep people with a keyboard and mouse setup content, Although I have never used 8.x so I cannot say for sure.

For me Win7 is perfect for what I need and don't feel like learning how to navigate a new OS and having to deal with disabling all the annoying crap that shouldn't have been there in the first place, not to mention windows 8's multi-monitor set up may be easy to set up but actual usage is terrible because of how you close the modern applications and the side bar menu, IT WAS JUST IRRITATING.

Let's just see how Win10 comes out and if it will be a good make up for the crap that was Win8.

I have 7 Windows 8.1 systems in my house and have yet to run across the stub error.

Good bye "Windows 7 OS" I always loved you because we loved together, you made me who I am. I just wanted you to know there will be a piece of you in me always, and I'm grateful for that. Whatever someone you become, where ever you are in the world I'm sending you love, [send] drool.gif

As long as we can figure out how to achieve real full administrative privileges I'm all for 10. Better yet I think it's rather obvious Microsoft is trying to remove the blemish that is 8. It is rather short lived. Remember that the 10 preview is the business oriented version IIRC. Speaks volumes imb

I'd be mad too if I bought a turd product like that.

Windows 7 users got at least 6 solid years out of their OS. Windows 8 support is gonna drop so much faster than that.

I dunno why people hate on 8. I've been using it for the past year for videos and hardcore gaming, and I didn't have any problems whatsoever. None. I rarly see the metro screen (if at all), and I don't miss win7 one bit. In fact, when I do use win7 somewhere else, I feel like I'm going backwards.

And for the ones who think that businesses didn't like to move past winxp or win7 because of functionality - your dead wrong. it's about the money and familiarity. That's it. Nothing to do with the product itself.

Nothing surprising.

Too bad Win 8 sucks for desktop usage. Was on it for 6 months trying to get "used to it". There is some good features like Win+X but these are not enough to out-weight the issues it has even when using third party tools like Start8. I have now a 11.6'' laptop with touchscreen and all and I expected that I would like Win 8 more on it - which, as it seems - is not true. It still sucks most of the time.

Bad initial press can go only so far. For it to presist an item needs to have some fault also in reality and as its market share shows - it does far far worse in its adoption rate than the previous version did.

I wonder how many people complaining about this move to Windows 8/8.1/10 were around when we had to move from DOS/Win 3.1 to Windows 95. It was a HELL of a lot more painful and even I was crying about it. I was a 14 year old computer guru at the time that had been writing my own config.sys and .bat files forever and now I had to move to a system that was taking that freedom away. Windows was less able to be manipulated for performance than before. Those of you that started with 98SE XP or 7 have no idea how terrible the move from 3.1 to 95 was. Those of us that do aren't having NEARLY as much of a problem going from 7 to 8/8.1/10.

I've welcomed 8 with open arms.. for the first time in history of windows OS drivers for every device I've plugged into it work! I mean PRINTERS PRINTERS PRINTERS PRINTERS PRINTERS freaking work in this OS without having to use proprietary drivers from companies that have pages harder to navigate than the Labyrinth of Minos.

Also 8.1 Pro cost me 32 dollars. 7 Ultimate cost me 318. If 8/8.1 was so atrocious 31.29% of Steam wouldn't be using it. I assure you if it was as easy to crack as Windows 7/XP was more than that would be using it. come to think of it, I think one of the reasons that people are still stuck on 7 and crying about 8 is that the security verification makes it much more difficult (but not impossible) to crack than 7. I don't know a single person running a copy of 8 that isn't a legit copy.

I just wish you guys would quit crying so much. I can swim pretty good but I hate the cold water of your tears. Seriously it's time to quit crying and move to linux where you can cry about MSFT on their forums or get over it.
