But this is the limit of my cooler, upper high limit even. As far as the raven goes, does anyone here have any first-hand experience with it?

I owned an RV-02 white edition (no. 22) for 3 years before finally deciding to go small! biggrin.gif

What were the fans like sound wise? Do they need anti vibrate mounts?

The fans don't need any anti vibration mounts at all; if you run them at the low setting they are actually quiet enough. The sound you'll hear are more the whoosh of air coming from the 3 AP-181 fans.

the ap181's don't spin fast enough to require anti vibration mounts. it's NOT the quietest fans out there, but not the loudest either. it performs well acoustically considering the amount of air it's pushing. i have mine on a fan controller so i can spin it down to 450 to 500RPM while i'm just browsing the web. at those speeds, it's practically silent even in a quiet room. you dont want to spin it below 450RPM since at that point the fans are just spinning for the sake of spinning and not actually moving any useful air pass the air filters.

What do you guys think of the deep cool gamerstorm Lucifer? Would it be a to handle my fx-6300 at 4.5-4.7ghz? Around 1.488 to 1.52v.

Well, the motherboard being rotated like that (first time I'm seeing that case BTW), it's natural to use a up standing cooler that flows directs the air through the natural airflow of the case, since the fins of the cooler cause less pressure drop in front of the air current. And that is quite important, the air doesn't need to change direction to move through. Trust me, I'm an engineer. thumb.gif

Aye, makes sense. I'm torn between the thermalright macho and the deepcool Lucifer. I have a bit of a thing for a single block of fins as opposed to towers

Both seem like very good coolers. 6 Heat pipes, and a big heat sink. If I'm to provide a professional opinion on which is best, I need to calculate the exact detail for each cooler. But, at first glance, the Macho seems to have slightly (only slightly) bigger heat sink fins. The design of each one is different, while the macho uses a more square shaped set of fins, Lucifer has an odd shape for the fins. I need to calculate it to give an exact opinion, and I don't have every detail for it.

For now, it's best to read the reviews of both products and if the match, just pick the ones you think looks better. I personally prefer the DeepCool's looks.

I saw the deepcool has a texture on the fins to help reduce the laminar layer on the fins, so that would be good.

i ordered lucifer for my FT02 since it was on sale at newegg for $40 biggrin.gif

it's metal sintered heatpipes soldered to the base which is the best you can get especially at that price. I do not know if macho uses sintered pipes or if it is soldered to the base, but i have every confidence in the thermalright brand to not care. i would have bought a macho a LONG time ago if newegg carried it tongue.gif
