People still care about power consumption? This is overclock.net - the moment you overclock your GPUs you throw power consumption out the window.

This explains the hybrid cooling leaks we've seen. As long as temps ( which is really all you should care about ) are kept down I'm all for it.

Sure there are loud 290x out there, specially the jet engine that is the reference card. But I think you guys are overreacting, the tri-x version of the 290x is pretty quiet, and if the 380/390x is 10-15% faster then anything out there then I don't see why it should matter. I've seen 300-500 reply threads debating over 3-5% performance difference when the 680 and the 7970 both where released over witch one was "the fastest" so I guess it's the raw performance OC to OC is the key selling point of GPUs at overclock.net.
