We need 16/14nm FF before we see something truly great.

being a hog doesnt make it powerful, its just means its a hog.

6 liter v8 @ 300kw doesnt mean its better then a turbo v6 @ 350kw, all that v8 does is waste fuel and being inefficient which is exactly what AMD is.

why dont you use a netburst P4 or a 220w FX because its obviously high end to you because it has more ghz and uses more power. mean while i;d enjoy my silent and cool running i7 T

No matter how you and everyone wants to see it the the 980 is the flagship high end chip.

nVidia presented them this way, this is how it is. Just because they no longer follow their older nomenclature scheme of having x00/x10 card being the flagship does not bean the the 680/980 are not for its time their Flagship/high end product.

Also just because nVidia has a better card in their coin purse (680 > GK110 that turned into the Titan), did not mean the 680 wasn't the 'it' card.

We as consumers just need to get used it that they felt/feel this is good enough for the consumer market.

How about you guys call the 680 and 980 high end and the rest of us that know better will call them what they are;mid-range chips that perform really well. The reason Nvidia did what they did with both the 680 and 980 is put more profits in their pocket. I don't hate on Nvidia for doing things that way, but I am not going to sit here and act like it is not happening either. When Nvidia releases their next high end chip (GM200), you can bet it is going to consume gobs of power as well.

IMO GTX900 series is the worst series. The new flagship barely beat the previous flagship despite this is a tock(a.k.a new architecture)

did Tesla mid-end GTX260 beat or at least equal previous flagship = Yep
how about Fermi GTX460? = Yep
how about Kepler GTX660? = equal
how about Maxwell GTX960? = did it beat 780ti, LOL......nope, not even 970... sigh.......

i seriously hope this AMD gpu force Nvidia to introduce GM200/Gm210. Nvidia has been screwing us lately.

Wiki-"I can read" strikes again!

Coming from a place where it's 35+ C in the summer, believe me, no PC will do any harm anymore. But that's not important since You "have to be right" right? Or You know...maybe you need better coolers....who would have thought that.

But in -30 C in the winter, You'd be glad to have them, believe me smile.gif

You actually expected the GTX 960 to beat out the 780 Ti? What is wrong with you?

When has there ever been a situation with Nvidia where the outgoing top tier consumer card was beat out by the incoming low tier of the next release? As you have put it here, the 780 Ti being beat by the 960.

What a joke to actually even expect that to happen.

Also, the 900 series stomps the 700 series. You see, what most of you people STILL refuse to wrap your heads around is that "Performance" and "Advancement" isn't exclusive to the FPS number you get to drool over at Toms, or Anand. Performance is an open metric and the meaning of it is determined by the person making the product.

The 900 series is a performance king and was significant, but you can only see that if you are smart enough to understand what "performance" means. The the level of Shill coming out of you in this post, it is just astonishing. You are literally trying to say the 900 series, a record setting series for Nvidia (I believe in sales), because the 960 didn't beat the 780 Ti.....

I.....wow.

Low end, mid range, high end are defined by no.1 performance and no.2 price. GTX 980 high performance, high price means high end.

If it's a mid range card lol it must be the most expensive mid range card ever. Not too many budget builders will be putting that on the shopping list.

We're been on 28nm for over 3 years now, what did you expect.. AMDs upcoming GPU won't be that impressive either, since that's also 28nm.

We need 16/14nm FF before we see something much faster. Maybe late 2015.

I bought 970 SLI on black friday, dirt cheap. I paid less for these two cards, than i paid for my old 780 Ti. But it's like 100% faster, for the same price. Maxing pretty much everything at 1440p while being quieter than the 780 Ti during load and passive at low loads. Can't complain.
