Rockstar don't outsource work, especially with huge games like the GTA series. They are very secretive with their work, hence most "leaks" end up being false rumours created by people who want attention. If they start outsourcing work, then chances are there would be a lot more real leaks which isn't the way they build hype.

...and I'm not sure if we should be happy or sad about those "recommended" specs. They seem awfully low for a 65GB open world game released in 2015. This just tells me that it will most likely be a marginal improvement over the next gen, if any.
I guess we should all just be grateful for 60 fps. rolleyes.gif

Really? Next gen consoles locked @ 30fps and still have dips.

I am happy with the R* games that I own. But I must be honest. This speaks volumes about how they value their customers on the PC platform.

I was looking forward to this game releasing during the slow period of my work year. I am lucky to work 15 hours a week until March. I was only looking forward to two games releasing this year and GTA V was no. two on the list. The game at the top of the list is TW3. Which is releasing in March. If it does so, I will be playing it instead of purchasing GTA V at that point. My job starts picking up in March and will not let up until after Christmas. While I do purchase a few things and let them sit on the shelf until needed, software is not one of said items. I will not be in game purchasing mode until around the next winter sale on Steam. If the game has actually released at that time, then R* will see my money. I will welcome the sale discount after waiting this long.

R* you lost out on a FULL MSRP sale.

So they've been working on the PC version since development first started (as proved by PC only files and code being in the 360/PS3 version) and now it's a 1.3 years later and the PC version is STILL not done.

Four versions of the game released. Over a billion dollars made. Yet this super developer can't release the PC version on time because "optimization"?

Bull.

Maybe if they had more than three interns working on porting the PC then maybe it wouldn't be so hard. I don't buy the whole optimization crap. Get on it, actually put some man power into it and finish it. There is no excuse for the PC version to take this long other than laziness/not giving a damn.

My hype for this went from a 99 to a big fat 0. I was going to buy this full price day one...now they can catch me on the next Steam sale when it's $10.

If they're going to treat PC gamers like this by releasing a game over a year and a half after initial release and 5 months after a next-gen release (which should have been MORE difficult and should have taken LONGER than the PC version) then they can say good bye to my money.

Screw you Rockstar, seriously. And not just because of more delays but just because of how you've been treating us for years now. First GTA 4 is a total freakin mess which STILL runs like crap, you never gave us Red Dead Redemption because "screw you", and now you can't even give us GTA 5 in a timely manner until AFTER you've milked the consoles for all their worth.

Yeah, you may make some fun games...but that's only part of the equation to keeping fans loyal. Because of your lack of caring and greed you just lost $60. Not only from me but from MOST people it would seem after this little "announcement" today. Have fun not even bothering with PC on your next game due to the PC, all of a sudden, not selling enough copies. Hmm...imagine that...

The last week or two leading up to release is basically just publishing - getting the game on disk and into stores/ready for digital release. It makes no sense that within the last 12 days, Rockstar looked at the game and said "there's no way we can ship this - we need 6 more weeks". They had to have known much, much earlier - at least in December - that the game was going to need to be delayed.

Had they announced this delay in mid-december, I think the reaction would be much better.

Exactly the point. I pre ordered it almost directly after they announced an actual set in stone release date (well clearly it wasn't) and then shortly there after it's yanked. Rockstar knew it wasn't ready and it's clearly them pulling back on it to avoid backlash from a likely failed launch. I get it, take the lesser of two failures with a further delay here - but what kills me is they had to have known this for at least a month or so prior to this announcement so why even bother with a release date on a game that isn't ready...

I get the feeling there was a major miscommunication between departments at Rockstar and the 27th was a pretty big slip up that they had to roll with for the time being.. Probably tried to rush it further and then had a last minute meeting realizing they can't release it like that...

I'll own it day one. That doesn't make the complaints and concerns any less valid.

That said, the only thing keeping my faith alive in this game and why it will be day one for me is the outstanding job they did on Max Payne 3 (helps that I'm a huge fan of the series of course).

Delay after delay after delay, on a game that's PC port, where the only new features are stuff other compotent devs have done and then some (DAI *cough*), has been in work for over a year if not since before the PS3/360 original release, which is a port (however high quality or amount of work done).

I don't have to pay a company full price for an already meh game or support their decisions to delay to bolster console sales so I won't. They're not entitled to my $ nor are they entitled to support their crap decisions.

You don't know anything about cross-platform development, do you? Why on Earth would a fixed hardware system take longer than PC, where they need to account for multitudes of different hardware and software configurations? That's one of the benefits of developing for consoles.
