MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G vs MSI R9 290X GAMING 4G

Ok i was thinking of upgrading my gpu, currently running 5870-5850 crossfired, was using my uncles 570gtx in sig.

Most'y why i was looking to upgrade was because of vram... 1gb-1.2gb just isn't enough anymore and bf4 shows that lol..

I have no issues with the performance with either of these cards its just the vram is lacking... So i was looking at either the msi 970gtx or the msi 290x.

Which one is better and will overclock more if i decided too in the future? Im not sure if i would be bottle necked by my cpu which i don't mind much but currently im running the cpu at 4.7ghz and it will go to 4.9ghz.

i mostly always run ati-amd. but wont mind switch to nvidia if i get better performance.

But now i know amd has mantle on bf4 which kinda has me worried if i go nvidia cause i do play bf4 every once awhile.

So yea what do you think i should go with?

What`s your pc?
And which resolution?
Usually the 970 at 1440 w/o AA and 1080 with AA does better job
The 290x at 1440 with AA or higher resolution

Mantle would help on cpu limited scenarios like 64players servers where directx has limits in some cases or dual gpu setups

Sorry had to update my sig again for some reason it was still showing my 1100t instead of my 8370e 4.7ghz.

everything is updated in my sig what im running:) oh and i have 16gb ram not currently showing in my sig....

Resolution i run 1920x1080 42inch hdtv. And when i ran the 570gtx i was using the down scale they have on 2560x1440 on some games.

I hardy use aa really didn't find the need much.

Well for Battlefield 4http://ht4u.net/reviews/2014/palit_geforce_gtx_970_jetstream_im_test/index24.php

The 970 is slighly better(maybe uses turbo=100mhz oc?)

Here's the thing i know alot of people wont approve this or at all lol.. Pretty much i was going to get one of the cards from cuttingedgegamer gamer cause i cant afford buying full price or i would've got that newegg lighting deal.

I know you pay alot more in the long run like 120$ more depends on the price but you can also upgrade in between for when something comes out better yea i know still not a good deal...

but i do get free gift cards each month so pretty much that pays for it for free which why i considered this.

So pretty much i cant really go wrong getting either one? Now i do play other games like fps ,mmos , pretty much a mix of everything.

Its just hard to decide lol..

I'm not your dad so I won't scold you, but you'd be paying $520+ to them for a 290x.
Save up the $45/month and you can buy a used card outright and not be on the hook for a leased video card.

yep 528$ around 140$ if i buy the card at the end.... and for the 970gtx 120$ more plus if i want to buy out a extra 39$ Yea i don't really like the idea my self.

But for me to save up for a used one lets say for 250$ sense i see them going for around that on ebay. It would take me about 6 months if i save the 44$ ...

Pretty much the 44$ is all i can spend a max a month for pc hardware cause of hard times need the other money for bills and stuff... unless something changes... Pretty much i had to save up for the saber board and 8370 using this money i get a month with this gift cards.

And it was hard cause im not the one for waiting lol and im not even sure how long these 5x series cards i have will last because one of them is showing blue lines sometimes..

But yea i do fully agree with you.

If i do decide to do it i probably get the 970 sense its a better deal cause the less you spend the cheaper you pay at the end.

Will have to think it over tonight.

Lightning is better than a 970, but whatever you do don't get a Gaming 4G.
