Wrong GPU delivered today on my 1st build..... - Page 8

When I ordered computer parts, I had to change the payment method (turned out I can't quickly complete a SEPA bank transfer, so instead I wanted to do this with PayPal).
My order was already complete and awaiting payment, so I called the company and described the situation. The representative was kind enough to immediately e-mail me a confirmation link.

The PayPal transfer tax (after currency conversion) would cost me an extra ~€20 IIRC, but I was ready to deal with that. However, once I got my PayPal receipt, I noticed that the final price was not updated, so I felt bad (who knows, people could be making this a practice) and called again, asking whether or not they were aware of the tax which wasn't included. The guy chuckled and wished me happy holidays, and to consider this a Christmas/New year gift from the company.

When I received my parcel, there was a personal note inside along a small pack of candy, thanking me for being a fair customer and notifying them about what could've been a nasty mistake.

It makes a difference if you call, doesn't it?

That's childish. If people lose their integrity over a hundred bucks, then there is not much to point your finger to laugh after. If gaining a better video card out of someones mistake is worth then by all means sell yourself short. I bet if the seller received a lesser card you would tell him to complain and ask the seller to send the right one though?

If you made a payment to your cell phone company and they charged you 3x the amount I'm sure you would be irritated, you would call to get it fixed to receive your refund right?

If you're wondering about my stance then it is that he should keep it as it was there fault and he should alert them that there may some problems with their shipping department.

(Also my account may be new but i shared an account with one of my brothers for a while until I got this one, it goes back to 2012 just in case you were wondering at all thumbsupsmiley.png )

Yes and no. I see a lot of double standards from people. If it's better keep it to enjoy, if it was worse send it back. It's obviously going to be the OP's choice on what he does. I'm sure having the integrity to send it back for the proper one would be the high road, the problem is people consider keeping something to gain an advantage and forget if they were at a disadvantage they would be throwing stones at the seller.

If it is a big company then they are used to taking hits like this from mistakes all the time. More than likely they are just going to tell him "thanks, keep it since we f'd up" if he played nice guy and told them.

Nice deal either way.

I would like them know just for the fact support later on if there are any issues with the card will go as planed ,they will probably say to keep it
post #75 of 110
Lucky break, man. I'd keep the card, but in the interests of honesty I'd let the seller know of the mixup. If you got an 980 instead of an 970, then some poor sod got a 970 instead of an 980. It's not like they can force you to pay the difference or return the card anyway. So just let them know - nothing wrong with that, and its decent.

Funny thing... same conclusion. What ever the sticker says, you pay for. If you are at BestBuy and they have let's say... EVGA 970 for $150 less than retail you can take it to the register, have them scan it and you will pay sticker price.

Not as big of a difference, but I was looking for some laptop RAM a couple years back. They had a stick listed for $20 on the site and it was available at my store. I get to the store and the sticker says $20. I get to the register and it pops up as $45. I let the guy know, he checks the sticker (as well as a log saying what prices should be) and changes it to $20.

Except OP bought a 970, an paid for a 970. The equivalent in a store would be picking up a 970, paying for a 970, and walking out with a 980.

Ram case, if the price in the system was the correct price, that would be the price you'd have to pay, the sticker price was wrong. Now if the $45 was the correct price and clerk didn't notice the disparity and charged you the sticker price, clerk has no right to ask for the difference after the sale was complete.

When we have higher end cards, 980 will probably fall to being ~20-40% more expensive than 970 instead of as much as 60-70% (and it's ~20% faster at similar clocks) biggrin.gif
