I have a pair of V-Moda Crossfade LP2's that I love, but wish they had a little more "punch" down low, along with more power in the mid range. Also, due to a new AMP and DAC purchase, a little more volume without distortion.

I got them for a good deal a few years ago and they have been rugged and great. Mind you these were my first phones that I spent more than $40 on. Now I am hooked!

I have done a little research and have found that the cones in the LP2's are about as big as they get...is this true? Does a bigger cone mean a more accurate and more powerful headphone?

I just added a Shiit Modi 2 Uber DAC w/ Optical, Coax and USB, as well as a Shiit Asgard 2. These alone added SOOOO much power and clarity to my LP2's. I was previously using a Marantz SR3001 AVR, with what I have now found to be a crap headphone circuit.

Can someone recommend some over ear headphones(open or closed?) that can add some more clean volume? I listen mostly to Classic Rock, a little Rap, and will also use them for gaming (no mic and this is the lowest priority)

Also, what is the difference between closed and open over-the-ear phones?

Budget is about $300-400 or less

I know a lot of how great audio sounds is very subjective, but I think with a little research and help from OCN I can find something that will suit me!

Thanks

EDIT: Also, sorry, how do OHMs affect sound quality? I see my LP2's with 32 OHMS and I see Sennheisers with 600 OHMS...
