And be sure I'm not getting the old Asus PB278Q? Or how would I know? I want a decent 27 inch1440 monitor for gaming but don't want to spend more than $500....

I'd love to know also. Looking at the reviews at Amazon, it looks like it is a hit or miss. You can try Fry's and open the box while your there to make sure sure the "QR" is listed on the back of the monitor. thumb.gif

This is what I got from NCX:

"Apparently the new version does not have PLS printed on the box and the monitor pictured on the box has tiny circles for its OSD menu controls. The AHVA version has a matte black bezel, so if necessary, it should be easy to tell which version it is by opening the box. "

So I will go to Microcenter today and see if I can tell the difference without having to open a box.

Just went to microcenter and bought it.. The newer version will have tiny circles on the box picture for OSD controls like said. i haven't opened the box yet since I'm at work but it appears the theory holds true if you pick it up at a store...
