Hey all, buddy has an APU and is having some problems with it.
He can boot up with his nVidia card hooked up, but he can't run anything intensive with it, it'll shut down on him when he boots up a game, so he tries disconnecting that and running with his APU, but he can't pass the windows load up screen with that being the sole video output.
He's done a system restore as well as reinstalled drivers for both APU and GPU. No dice.
Could be a BIOS setting that is wrong or it could be messed-up drivers in Windows. If he can POST with only the APU installed, that means the onboard GPU is enabled and working. But you might want to check the BIOS to be sure it's the primary display. If it is, then try to get into Windows in Safe Mode, delete all of the nVidia and AMD video drivers (make sure they are ALL gone), then reboot and reinstall the Catalyst suite and see if it works then.
