That will keep happening in the gaming industry as long as gamer's allow it to happen.
R* is going to be a min. of 1.5 years late to the party. In my industry, when you are 1.5 years late to the party, the party has been over for a LOOOOOOOOONG time and the industry has completely forgotten about you. I will never play GTA V. I have moved on to better things that can meet a deadline. I will never purchase another R* game because they have shown me they do not value my money.
My Opinion #2:
Another thing that does not happen in my industry is getting paid for work not done yet. I do not get paid until the product is finished and in the customer's possession. I wonder how many people on this forum that are pre-ordering this tripe get paid in advance for work not done yet? Yeah, I will bet the farm it is less than 1% of them.
Not to be a dick, but different industries are different. Unless youre in an obscure industry that has a total value of under 500mil, there will be plenty of instances of screw ups, recalls and delays.
R* has the brand recognition needed to survive bad decisions or faulty products. 1 billion in sales, pretty much lets you do what you want.
I'm not preordering, never been a dedicated fan of the gta games. Ill pick it up when it hits 40ish on Steam.
I work in IT, so youre damn skippy I get paid upfront, at least 50% of the cost of the job. Plus the client gets builded for the rest plus overages. We charge through the nose (for the area), because we have the reputation to do that. Being top dog in your market is nice.
