AMD Phenom ll x2 550 build

Thread Starter
I have just finished my first build, I started with a ASRock M3A770de motherboard (socket AM3), AMD Phenom ll x2 550BE CPU, Corsair XMS3 PC3 10700H (667MHz) 2x2Gb (4Gb total), EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 1Gb graphics card, Logisys CS368 SoHo case with 480W power supply, Sony DVD/RW w/ lightscribe, Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit), Seagate 80Gb HHD (hahahahaha), ran out of money had to recycle, tried to unlock the 2 extra cores, I turn the ACC to AUTO from disable, when I reboot all fans run and lights come on but nothing, the screen stayed blank, tried to turn off by power switch but it did nothing, I had to pull the plug and reset the BIOS by using a jumper on the motherboard, my motherboards BIOS verison is 1.8. I read that AMD was going to force makers to fix the BIOS to stop people from unlocking the extra cores. What is the right verison of the BIOS? I also read that the Vcore has something to do with it, also the speed of the ram??? I have downloaded AMD OverDrive and ASRocks OC Tuner, I plan on playing Call of Duty(all), Silent Hunter 4, ect. Any HELP will HELP. THANK YOU smile.gif KEEP ON GAMING

not all 555's have 4 good cores. your bios should allow you to choose enable/disable each core. try each extra core individually. you may only get one free core. biggrin.gif
