If I can do it with a video camera, cheap tent and now lights, anyone can thumb.gif

Yeah I found some tents with lights on Amazon, but after looking at them I thought those lights look like some utility lights I have out in the garage and the tent looks like a nice white sheet over a frame. I know there is probably more to it than that but I couldn't bring myself to order something when I feel like I could build something that might perform for my needs. I don't know I'll give it some more thought thinking.gif

As for the video camera, mine takes some fairly good pics too so I don't doubt the quality of the pics they can take. My biggest issue when taking pics especially when zoomed in on parts is a steady hand, so the Tripod should help with that biggrin.gif

Graphics Cards.......

I have been having a few issues with my 970 but not in gaming, in applications like AutoCAD, Vegas and Photoshop, things I use on a day to day basis. At first I thought it was nothing to worry about but as each driver release has come out (especially since 344.75) it has got worse. Playing a game and getting a crash is annoying but doing a task and getting a crash is infuriating, especially when it comes at an unexpected time or 2/3 through a major HD render - so I've hit my limit. Whilst this may seem convenient with recent news, honestly it's only acted to reinforce it. Applications like AutoCAD can have issues when it 'holds onto VRAM' so I can only assume that it all goes haywire when it creeps into the final 0.5GBs of the 970. I put a 760 2GB or 4GB (from other PCs in the house) in and I don't get the issue, though everything does run slower overall. I've tried asking about this around the place but it's usually ignored as the majority are only concerned with gaming, and that's ok, I might be trying to multi purpose too much.

What to do? This isn't a build log to look pretty, it is one that needs to work. I'm looking into my options and going to see what I can do with my local retailer though they have a terrible reputation in less complicated situations but we'll see. Now I don't want to start a back and forth in this thread that has been done in several others on OCN, I just wanted to give a heads up as to why some things may change. I absolutely love the Strix so this is really disappointing but one step at a time and fingers crossed for a happy ending!

In sure you've heard since you mentioned the news, but there's something up with the 970 platform and memory issues. frown.gif

Yeah I have and in my case it appears to have possibly given an explanation as to why I am having issues frown.gif

Hope you can work something out with the retailer and get the performance you paid for, definitely don't settle for anything less.

Thankfully I got a refund. The retailer, one that usually would fight you over a DOA or something basic, just processed it simply and politely....almost like they've been doing a few of late. So relief on that front but now it's decision time...980, 290x or other...man I hate having to go through this process again. For those interested, the 980 is creeping ahead now based on the price and power/heat. In light of the 970 situation 290x cards are a little hard to get (according to 3 retailers I spoke to today) and their price has jumped up to minimum AU$540, making the newer, cooler 980 more attractive again.

In other news, I picked up some more paint, the fans should be in tonight and I have a Asus 980 Strix on hold in case I go that option. As for the Case Labs parts they arrived in Melbourne a few hours ago so hopefully I'll have them sometime tomorrow biggrin.gif
