LED Control Cable

Got the third LED in place, all daisy-chained and now the lighting spread is perfect thumb.gif
I got to working on a custom cable to be able to control the LEDs with a 3pin connector - thank you to @ITDiva for your advice and guidance biggrin.gif

I am not the greatest at sleeving (as you can see) and hence I got Ensourced to do my PSU cables tongue.gif I hooked it up and tested it on a fan header by changing voltages in the bios and not only did it work well but these have far better range than the previous custom LEDs I tried. They cut off at roughly 6v but from 7-12v they can be adjusted at all increments without them "blinking' - the previous ones blinked so much I could only really have 2 levels of brightness as well as off. This is reinforcing my choice for the Thermaltake Lumi's now, very happy and I recommend them thumb.gif

Airflow + Cooling Tests

Now that the bulk of the rig is together I have had a chance to do some testing in relation to the effectiveness of the cooling. The most noteworthy results is in relation to the 120.3 sidemount.

*All data according to HWiNFO64 and cross referenced GPU-Z, GPU Tweak and AiSuite3 where applicable. All temps based on the same ambient temperature of 24°C.

Conclusion
The differentials are very large in my opinion. I've ran both setups for several days now and thus far I can conclude that the lower exhaust ONLY setup is far more efficient for this build. Whilst the sidemount does increase flow in the bottom chamber it is not beneficial to this air-cooled build in relation to removing heat from the case. Conversely, in my opinion, a watercooled build would benefit from a sidemount configuration because you could change your main case exhausts to the top of the case (with or without radiators) because forced airflow would no longer be needed for the CPU and GPU. I had an inkling that this may be the result but I ordered the sidemount for future options, eg, watercooling (I don't plan on getting any other case for an extremely long time thumb.gif)

So, long story short, I will be removing the sidemount (including it's connected fans) as there is no benefit to this build in it's current form. Whilst it will lose some aesthetics, function is king Rkingsmiley.png

Well done buddy. I think you have some awesome results there. thumb.gif I actually didn't expect for air cooling to do that well. As i have seen some results out of control thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif lol but of course allot don't include there ambient temps and boast weird figures LoL

As for you, you have done it professionally and must say your build is very eye catching and done with perfection. thumb.gif Yes the case is definitely not a short term case and for sure not at that price and that goes for me as well. Like you said you got the case for future builds into it as well and thats why you have the sidemount. Also you go with more options later with Caselabs, thats the beauty about it biggrin.gif So ye if the sides affect the overall performance they must go for now. Otherwize an absolutely great build so far and some really great temps and good to have a bench mark smile.gif

Salute!!! cheers.gif

(Idle/Load)
Without the sidemount:
CPU Temp - 32°C/65°C
GPU Temp - 35°C/60°C
GPU VRM Temp - 35°C/62°C

With the sidemount:
CPU Temp - 38°C/72°C
GPU Temp - 40°C/64°C
GPU VRM Temp - 41°C/69°C

*All data according to HWiNFO64 and cross referenced GPU-Z, GPU Tweak and AiSuite3 where applicable. All temps based on the same ambient temperature of 24°C.

Glad to see someone researching their own system rather than relying on the words of others. Keep at it, mate. Very inspiring schtuff.
