3960x dead?

Thread Starter
So I bought a 3960x used and have tried multiple avenues to no avail. I am using it on a rampage iv formula with 16 gig team group extreme ram. It will boot to the windows and linux install screens but as soon as you start the install it crashes. Have tried even shutting off all extra features on the cpu and running it on just one core. have even tried to up the voltage and amprage while running the 1 core with no difference. it passes memtest86 just fine. The bios is updated to the latest version. Basically if it is given any kind of load it crashes.

Update the cpu needed a little work to get working but the main issue was that for whatever reason running the system drives in ahci mode crashes
