Try restarting the computer if this happens. Sometimes RInput gets hung up in Steam. This has been happening more to me lately the past few weeks with TF2 for whatever reason.

Yes, I've tried restarting, verifying my cache files in TF2, and reinstalling SourceGL...not sure what else to do frown.gif

All I can think of is that I updated Razer Cortex (I use it for the "gaming mode" auto-closing of apps/services feature) before this started occuring. Sadly, uninstalling it has not fixed the problem frown.gif

Essentially what happens is:
launch
the background image (but not the full menu, just the background) displays briefly
the screen goes white and my cursor turns into an hourglass
the game actually boots, full overlay and menu included, and works for about 5 seconds
CTD

EDIT:
I just remembered!

It is almost certainly Razer Cortex...I reinstalled it, and when it *is* installed the game doesn't even launch at all. Immediate CTD, before the background image can even display.

Argh!

Could anyone suggest some potential solutions?

Perhaps your DirectX 9 files were corrupted. Try reinstalling them with the June 2010 redistributable. You could also try doing a full NVIDIA driver removal and clean install. Nothing else is coming to mind immediately so hopefully one of those two does it. I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

Thanks, I'll try that. Already tried reinstalling the nvidia drivers to no avail frown.gif

I have to say, going back to m_rawinput 1 after all this time really has me appreciating what you've provided...mouse responsiveness just feels distinctly icky now...it's a real bummer.

This isn't the first time Razer has screwed me, either. Razer Surround has corrupted my system so that other similar products like Creative MB3 surround sound produces distorted audio. I've done very thorough uninstalls of Cortex and Razer SS, too--removing the AppData files, hidden virtual drivers, and manually scrubbed my registry of everything "Razer", to no avail. Not cool :/

I'll report back.

No luck frown.gif

Looks like I'll have to consider a fresh OS install...no idea where my Windows 7/64 CD is -__-

is m_rawinput in csgo/TF2 really that bad? Been using it over 2000 hours on CSGO... and well about 20-50 hours on TF2 and it feels quite normal? At least it feels normal compared to Overwatch where it feels like you're dragging your mouse in a mud.

RInput just feels sharper...more responsive and smooth. It's akin to having 144 FPS vs 100 to me. On the first go it was hard to appreciate, but going back after a solid year of use I'm seriously considering installing a fresh Windows partition just to get it back. I'd definitely recommend giving it a go.

Does this work for any Source game?
