They would look awesome on a white build and they also perform well.

The harderst would have been the I/O cables, but there are white extention cables out there, so you can hide the black once under the front panel, if you do it right.

Just a thought, but I think they were going for a CM Stormtrooper look on this case. Or maybe this is a Star Wars tie-in and they are going for a stormtrooper look.

Finally got the last bits for the build and I have started. These are the thing that jumped out of me taking it apart and which I feel should be addressed in any revision of the case:

1. Lack of magnetic dusk filtering on the bottom to match the sides and top. I am not sure what their rational is, but this is where the primary intakes are in part and it should have been made more uniform. Definately this should have been applied to the front part which has none.

2. The dust filter is not an elegant dust filter like the tops or even a removable one like on my Phantom 820 front. In fact they seem pretty much fixed in place. Considering most people put a large intake on the front this is going to be more annoying to clean that it should.

3. The removable motherboard tray is great. However, the way they attach the drive tray to the underside leave a lot to be desired. Rather that laying flat it sort of arches into the air as the two wings that it attaches to sticks out. Perhaps they are taking protruding coolers from the bottom into account. The 2011v3 chipset has a fairly flat backplate. Personally I would rather that these right-angle piece not be there so the tray itself is easier to manipulate when used outside of the case.

A star wars tie in would be cool. It is going to be the basis of my build, though I will probably add more black.

Hi guys,

I’m currently configuring my new rig. I came across the Core X2 and fell in love with this case wink.gif I have some questions now, which might be answered by you guys, because I couldn’t find any hints in reviews or something.

Is it possible to place a rad with 60mm thickness on the side mounts, which pushes the air out of the case?
All the pictures are showing fans which are pulling air directly in front of the windowed side panel, which might be a reason for a performance decrease, when I place the radiator behind them. Furthermore I would blow the warm air into my case, which is also sub-optimal.
The only useful configuration (in my non-practical opinion) would be a 60mm rad directly in front of the meshed side panel, so that the fans push the warm air out of the case (I want to avoid a pull-configuration, if possible).

Or is it just the better way to go for top-mounted rads, in push-config, immediately?

I would appreciate your help, because at rig-building I’m kinda pedantic wink.gif

Thanks!

The fans infront of the window is more for looks then performance. So ignore those.

Yes, I think you can fit a 60mm rad on the side in the bottom, given that the case is 320mm wide.

You got 230mm to play with under the roof, but GPU's takes a lot of space in height, so make sure you measure first, then chooce the thickness of the radiators.

Yeah, they might look good side mounted, but not mounted under the top rads, as they have too much black on the sides.

I think you are the only one who is trying for an all white build.

I have been playing with the idea, but its too hard to get a hold of the right parts, since most white parts are special editions and not available most places.

So I think I will extend on my performence idea and try and to stack 3 X9 instead.
With some mods, so can we talk 16x 480mm rads or in other words, a pc that shall never be more then a few degres above room temprature.

Thanks for your reply, Chiobe!

I will go for the radiator on the top. I would prefer 60mm but if I check the measurements...:
- GPU height (Gigabyte GTX970 G1) -> 129mm
- space for the 6+8-pin power connectors -> 20mm
- space between mobo and GPU because of the PCI-e slot -> 15mm
- radiator + push-fans -> 85mm

= 249mm

Well... Even a 45mm rad would be damn close...
Has anyone experience with top-radiators, especially 45mm ones?

Thanks again!
