Why not get a decent power supply and paint it (or have it painted)?

Thermaltake shop has snow edition now, could possibly arrive before newegg preorder, but not risking ordering from them.

Hi guys. i was thinking of picking up the core x9 cause im getting tired of the haf series which i have the 932 and 922. My 932 has a window cause its the limited amd ed so not much air flow ... And the 922 which im using now because of the side panel fans. While its ok its just no room for push and pull unless you mod it which i did some.

One thing i wanted to ask does the core x9 has any cooling for the back of the socket? Pretty much i need that feature because it helps with temps alot mainly with these hot fx cpus...

And pretty much if load the whole x9 case with fans will it help with my temps compare to the haf cases? I would think it will.

But im hopeing it does have cooling for the socket if it does im going to order it today probably.

You could probably mod it in, and side fans would probably blow somewhat on it, but the case is really designed for water cooling.

that's what i was thinking maybe the side fans will blow towards it. And yea i know its for mainly water cooling but even with water cooling which im running now the socket gets pretty hot when pushing a high overclock with out any air flow blowing on it.

I have a fan tangling in the rear of the socket and cpu socket temps stays in the 50s, But with out the fan they will get up to 70c...

I just don't want to buy it and find out i get hotter temps because no active cooling on the socket...

Just did a little research on it. Found out that the plate which holds ssds or a hdd comes off and that leaved a big hole in back of the tray.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v80), quality = 95

And by this pic it looks like i can get a fan under there and something that sits on the psu so the fan sits on it to blow up at the socket.

If you need a fan to get the temps down, then you are not using enough water cooling.

Put 2x 480mm rads in the roof and that cpu should never be above 50C, unless you are really pushing the overclock.
If thats the case, put another 480mm rad in the bottom and get some good fans.

He is using an expandable AIO, so not as good cooling as custom, and AMD runs really hot. He could probably attach heatsinks to the back of the socket, there should be enough space.

Considering last I heard there were like 3 factories in the world making PS (Seasonic being the largest) it's likely as good as any other. I used to buy OCZ branded PS with the modular cabling and nice sleeving. I haven't found any new supplier yet, but I like the layout of the Antec modular PS, and the Corsair RM1000 Silence looks promising.

My point is taking apart the PS to properly paint it would void the warranty. Painting it without doing so may event do that and is trickier. There is really no reason to do so when a simple Google search shows a few white PS, including one by NZXT. Is the Toughpower one that bad?

The toughpower one isn't available anywhere. I couldn't find it at any site except thermaltake's site and they cancelled my order.

Could use plastidip instead of paint.
