Mobile Office Laptop Recommendations

Thread Starter
I finally get my boss to agree to get my a laptop for work.

I am Project Manager for a small contracting company and often spend anywhere between 2 to 8 hours a week of paid time traveling on a train to get to some of our project sites. I told them it would be beneficial if I had access to files so I could work on the train. Yes, I am a model employee tongue.gif It would also be handy to have the project drawings accessible as I has bringing rolls of 36x48 paper.

I am sure any laptop now a days would be sufficient for pdfs, word and excel files, but as a computer enthusiast I want to make sure I get the best one within my price range. As for the price range we will need to have another meeting to discuss that.. However, I would figure that I could probably get them to commit to around $500/600. Anything more than that they will probably give me a hard time. However, they have no idea what things cost, but my office manager probably will say I only need a $200 or $300 one.. mad.gif

I was thinking a 15" inch screen would be good.. I know the smaller the better for travelling, but I always have more than one window up so multi tasking and screen real estate are important to me. Battery will be key as it needs to last 2+ hours on a single charge no matter what it's doing.

I don't think $500 to 600 will get me a dedicated GPU... I think an A10 in my price range would be the best bang for the buck.. But that is why I am asking the questions..

Any help is appreciated as its been 5+ years since I last bought a Laptop..

Hmm, Lenovo Z50-70 laptop.
It cost $599 which is just right amount of your budget.
It will feature i7 but it is sadly a dual core rather quad core. Although it would get the job done, I wish you can get the quad core CPU because it is better for multitasking and/or being productive. tongue.gif
It does have a nice 1920x1080 LED screen, 8GB RAM and 1 TB HDD.

I wish you can customize the storage to SSD, so you can get this nice boot up speed and opening programs instantly. tongue.gif
I am sure you can do it manually, and I would advise you to do it. It is more of a "future-proof" because once you go with SSD/mSATA SSD. You will NEVER look back to the same old HDD EVER AGAIN! tongue.gif
Also Lenovo makes an awesome laptop keyboard, so you will get a really nice typing experience. tongue.gif

Make sure you press "Next" until you see $599 one.
I have no idea why Lenovo doesn't allow you to see the actual one that I want you to see.
