Started modding my case today. Wanted to keep the top clean because I didn't trust my drilling skills. Reinverted the inverted mobo tray and tapped the two screws. I then drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom so the GPU can breath. I think I'm going to add a handle to the top to make it easy to carry around.

My order got cancelled today because apparently they're EOL.

why not just use a phobya rad grill? its large enough that it covers cutting defects nicely. else get the one with the tiny round holes and use it as a drilling guide/template

inverting the mobo is a solution but you are going to have to find spots to mount your drives and that you are going to cap yourself to a 17cm long card + power cables

O_O really? i'd love to pick up another one if it is indeed the case. still you dont have to specifically look for the metis, there is a million clones out there.

ie SilentiumPC Gladius Q50

I agree, after I started drilling the holes I realized I should have just bought a grill. I'm using the small evga 750 ti so clearance isn't a problem. I have about an inch clearance. I left myself a decent upgrade path so if I upgrade to a bigger card in the future I can invert the mobo back and put a 120mm fan on the bottom. I was thinking about putting the ssd above the PSU on the front panel and maybe another behind the mobo tray if needed.

I would love a list of these clones. I only knew of the DIYPC one. I seem to recall there was one with a pre-cut top..

there isnt one with a precut top, that one is a modded complete PC build by a retailer.

i do wish they did a top meshed + filter intake from the factory and made about 10-20mm longer

Put together my build yesterday and got it to post. Still waiting on my 750 ti so I'm using the integrated graphics for now. It's a present for my daughter and she loves the way it looks.
Cpu- i3-4170
CPU cooler- raijintek themis
Mobo- asrock h97
Ram- hyper x 2x4gb
Storage- 250gb crucial mx200 (more coming)
Gpu-(eventually a 750 ti)
Psu- Silverstone 450w gold modular
Mods
Added handle(guitar case handle)
Chrome feet(cabinet handles)
Cut holes in mobo for wire mngmt and to fit cooler backplate.
Flipped mobo and drilled holes in the bottom to vent. Drilled it out to fit a 120mm fan, but its not hooked up at the moment. (Need fan splitter)

Love the vintage suitcase handle for LAN carry. Most excellent work there. yessir.gif

Now you just need some vintage corner protectors. cheers.gif
