New Build Post Troubles

Hey there everyone,

I recently got my parts in the mail and started assembling my new build last night. Unfortunately, after getting everything together, I ran in to some trouble with getting it to post.

At first, nothing came up on the monitor. Fans started spinning and hard drives booted, but there was no BIOS anywhere to be seen. I did a little fiddling (made sure all connections are properly seated, removed graphics and sound cards, removed hard drives, one stick of RAM, etc.) and eventually found a configuration where I could get it to post. It will only boot up and go in to BIOS when there is only one stick of RAM in either the first or second memory slot. It won't work if there are two or no sticks, and it also won't work if there is a stick in slot 3 or 4. Both sticks are working, they just have to be in the right slot. It also won't post with any other peripherals like the graphics card installed.

I tried clearing CMOS, still no further luck. When it does get to BIOS, it recognizes the CPU and one stick of RAM just fine, so I don't think it's a problem with either of those. I'm leaning towards a defective motherboard, simply because of the whole RAM in slot 3 or 4 = no post.

I'm going to do some more testing once I get home from work tonight, but I was just wondering if you guys had any advice on what to troubleshoot or what it could be? I'm hoping to have a conclusion on what it is by tonight so I can RMA it as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Forgot to post build:

CPU: Intel i7 4790k

I would think it's have to be the MB or PSU. The only thing you could do before pulling it out would be to try a different PSU if you have one. If not, I would pull it and first check for bent pins on the CPU socket. Then RMA it, keeping in mind that if it does have bent pins, from what I can tell reading feedback, you're screwed. So save the money of shipping it back....

I'll try a different PSU tonight. Going to have to take apart my other system though. Fun fun XD.

And yeah I thought about bent pins, but I would think if it had bent pins it wouldn't recognize the CPU or post at all, not with just one stick of ram. Perhaps I'm wrong in my thinking but I don't know. I'll check tonight. Thanks for the suggestions.
