4770K Unstable at 4.5GHz

Thread Starter
I have finally found some time to conduct some overclocking on my 4770K to see where it stands.I am using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to automatically step up to higher frequency's.I kept jumping in increments of 2GHz,every time i try to benchmark at 4.5GHz i get a blue screen and it restarts.

I am running the following hardware -

Asus Maximus Gene VI
Asus 980 Matrix platinum
Hyper X Savage 8GB 2400MHz
Silverstone 850 Strider Gold S
Prolimatech Megahalems CPU Cooler/Noiseblocker PK-PS 140mm X2

Can it be the Intel utility is using to much voltage ?
Do i have a crappy chip that cant go past 4.4GHz? My temps are around 55C at 4.3GHz so thermal threshold is a non issue even if i continue to OC higher.

I have some really high end hardware so i was hoping for better results but maybe i am a victim of the silicon lottery =/

Hard to tell what's going on when you're trying to use auto-overclocking stuff. Use manual overclocking from the UEFI.

You should find plenty of info to guide you in the Haswell Overclocking Thread
