It runs well until you run Lighting on Extra High. It makes even a powerful CPU and GPU work significantly harder to keep fps at 60 at night time on Mother Base. I only just keep 60 on mother base at 1440p max out (night time).

I set post processing off and AO to high. Both seem to eat up a lot of frames. Lighting is factor i didnt want to compromise with in this game. Im going to try and go back and forth between 30 frames and 60. Its hard to see a difference in the game for me. Its not generally a fast paced game.

If you want to use properly high quality settings, such higher resolution textures, shadows, lighting, post processing, much better LOD distance and overall higher detail, then you will need Extra Extra High settings mod and GTX 980 Ti to get constant 60fps at 1080p. With my GTX 980 OC and those Extra Extra High settings, I get 60fps during the day, but at night it falls down to 40fps in lighting-intensive situations.

UNmodded Very High settings are more like Medium out of what is possible. Stock AO also blows - NVidia HBAO+ is miles better and beats even Extra Extra High AO settings. In-game FXAA blurs the hell out of already low resolution textures on Very High settings. ReShade FXAA is miles better, but only the oldest 0.10 version works with MGSV. ReShade FXAA not as good as 4K VSR or DSR. Its the only downside of using 1080p with Extra Extra High settings because that is all my GTX 980 can handle.

BTW NVidia 4K DSR to 1080p downscaling works at 120Hz just fine.

I shall post my superior graphics screenshots at some point.

If you want to use Extra Extra High settings from Nexus Mods for Phantom Pain, then make sure to get version 1.2 if your MGSV is updated to the latest 1.02 patch.

Is Ground Zero like a preview for Phantom Pain? Is it just one large mission and one big area? I thought it would be free for Phantom Pain owners...

Yes, ground zeroes is the prologue to Phantom Pain set 9 years before the events of phantom pain hence waking up in a hospital after 9 years in a coma in phantom pain. It was given away for free to anyone who preordered phantom pain through steam.

Is it worth $20? Its got to be at least a third of Phantom Pain's size in terms of missions because Phantom Pain is 3 times as expensive.

Its $11-12 on instant gaming, i'd say its worth that, plus you can get recruits from GZ to join your base in TPP, the easiest way to do that is to just find a 100% competition save online, upload it in GZ, then download the save at the main menu of TPP and you'll get some good A+ rank soldiers and Hideo Kojima is an S rank intel. There is one main mission in GZ that is part of the canon story line, the rest are irrelevant side missions, one paying homage to the first MGS game.

I played over 30 hours of GZ, paid 20 bucks for it. That's less than a dollar an hour for entertainment. I literally don't understand how people gripe about the cost of games these days.

People were expecting a full game instead of reading what it ACTUALLY was.

Yeah I know. Chapter 2 is ... weird. These mission should not be where the important main missions are. It's a bit confusing that some missions are "important side-ops" that you actually have to do to advance while some [EXTREME] or [STEALTH] mission are in the main mission tab. They should've handed this differently.
