Hi
I'm new to the forums but I had to reach out and ask for help and suggestions, I am doing a new build which contains the following:

- Thermaltake V51 Case
- Asus P5Q Deluxe Mobo
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650
- G.Skill DDR2 4GB x2
- Geforce Palit GTX 760 Jetstream 4gb
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 (2x CM Xtraflo 120)
- CM Sickle Flow 120 x3 (Chassis Fan)
- BitFenix Recon Fan Controller (CM Xtraflo 120 x5)
- SSD (Corsair 256gb force series) x1
- WD Blue 1 TB HDD x1
- DVDRW Burner x1
- USB Outputs x 8

Some may suggest going newer and that's fine as that's your opinion however I was given most of this gear for a great price so I couldn't refuse, so for now I will be sticking with this.

I know some of you may think i am going overboard with the fans but id prefer to have to many then to little, I have attached a pic of the layout of the fans if anyone is happy to suggest the best cooling ideas e.g.. intake and exhaust placements that would be awesome.

I Will want to overclock it but only around 4.0ghz so nothing insane, however with all of the above I am really confused with the power supply that I need, I was going to use a Corsair HX650 but every "PSU Calculator" gives different answer from 450w to 650w?

Can anyone please help tackle this issue as its the only thing left before I can get this beast running.

Thanks in Advance for all help.

The GTX770 only draws (at max) 170W, with the CPU at 100W. Tack on a good 50W for miscellaneous, and there you go. 320W minimum. The Corsair HX650 you mentioned will work well.

The correct way to use the extreme outervision PSU calculator
When they say 500 watts they are talking about a peak rated PSU not a continuous rated PSU which means you can knock 25% off the number they give you

As litte as 380 watts can, do so a decent 450 watts PSU is what you should look at.
Last dont get a Corsair PSU you can get just as good and better for less money elsewhere.

Most of the Corsair PSU´s are mediocre and overpriced, its only the higher end series that are actually good.
Also Corsair dont actually make any of the PSU´s they sell nor does most brands in fact so you are not getting anything made by the brand you buy.

Did you see the question i asked? i cant help you untill you give some more info.

The HX650 is a ripoff it cost $20 more then the Seasonic G its based on and it has two out of the four PCI-E cables removed.
Hell the Cooler Master VSM is the same price at $99,99 US and that one is better then the HX650 but it has the same flaw only 2x PCI-E cables.

Location. If not in the US, provide links to stores in your country.
Budget! Set a prefered price and an absolute maximum if you can.
Wattage needed, if you're not sure then that's fine but make sure to give us the details to #4!
What will you be powering? Include as much detail as possible.
Modular cables? Non-modular/semi-modular/fully modular.
Number of PCIe cables needed.
Any other requirements. For example dimensions, flat cables, ATX/SFX/TFX etc.

The system you got in the OP is not going to draw more then 300 watts so a 450 watts is all you really need.
Options in that wattage range are the Rosewill Capstone (if you are from the US) the Seasonic G and the Cooler Master V450 (not sold in the US)

Ok thanks, I'm from down under (Australia) I do not know any local stores as most is from the U.S. anyway. Money ain't a issue I want something that will do its job but have a bit extra power for over clocking and be mostly problem free, I'd prefer modular much tidier.

Needs2x PCIe cables for the gtx 760 and that's about it

More then enough you can even add a GTX 980 and still have room for OC.
