So don't waste money on an expensive upgrade if it's just for CS.

Hmm that sounds bad. I would only upgrade cpu+ram+mb. The 980 is already given. The Haswell-e and Skylake setups now cost almost the same. So you say, i wont see any more fps from either?

You can check more online, ask people who have made the upgrade to Skylake AND play Skylines but like I said, it's nothing major while being more expensive.

The game doesn't use more than 4 cores so I'm not sure a 5820k would help much. My 5960x sees 50% utilization in this game at 3 speed. I hope in the future they at least add 6 core support because a 50% boost in sim speed would help a lot for larger cities.

I also don't think the engine intentionally slows down sim speed. It's just a lot more simulation to handle with more cims so naturally it will slow down.

How would you guys approach this map? I'm having some trouble with people moving. Pleas ignore all the abandoned crap I expanded real fast and then accidentally left it running for a long time unattended.

Edit: I forgot the traffic jam problem...

Use more highway ramps. You dont need to stick with that fancy one, you can make simple ramps anywhere you want. I would have at least two entrances, and two exits on each island.
And use the intersection lights mod, to create simple stop-shield intersections. Sad, but those do much better traffic flow in this game.

Hey,

quick question here - does Cities: Skylines come only on Steam? I want to sell my Steam account, thus I don't want any more games bought that use only Steam frown.gif

Thanks for the info

Scratch that, found it on uPlay, woohoo!

I read somewhere that once you use mods you can no longer get any achievements in game. Is that correct?

Edit: By the way, anyone interested in the island map? Its a working map, not necessarily accurate to the real world or nice and refined. Made it specifically to be difficult though, not a lot of space on each grid, not a lot of access, lots of resources. Each island has at least 1 resource, no more than 2 and they range from sparse to dense. There are 2 ramps on the map iirc 1 railroad, 2 ship routes, and 2 plane routes.

My big problem right now is that I am running against the object limits of this game.

I can confirm that mods do indeed disable achievements.

But you are in luck. There's a way around it. This mod enables achievements while modding:

Try using a runabout for highway exits. Take a bit more space but they don't have to stop either.
