No idea how or why, but in games its always over 1500mhz clock. thats also what afterburner is reporting

Hate to be a nuisance but as far as I can tell, people with modded bios get equal or worse clocks than me. I have to say that I recently bought the card so maybe it has a OC-friendly bios already?
GPU-Z is not showing any throttling either, and I realyl dont understand what you eman when you say All stock bios will trhottle, cause mine isn't

I believe I will stay on my factory bios, not seeing any benefit to be gained. Thanks anyhow

How come did you manage to break those damn pins?
Only by removing the cpu from the socket? confused.gif

Temps are around 60°C.

I guess this is quite all right. My question is, would I really gain anything from flashing a custom bios? I suppose at most I could gain +30mhz on core, right?

I dont think its really wotht he hassle but looking forward to your feedback.

also below the gpu-z log from my fire strike run-

GPU Core Clock [MHz] , GPU Memory Clock [MHz] , GPU Temperature [°C] , Fan Speed (%) [%] , Fan Speed (RPM) [RPM] , Memory Used [MB] , GPU Load [%] , Memory Controller Load [%] , Video Engine

Thx and cheers

You've got a few oddities going on. One is that you never go over 82% load? Is this the same as GPU power%? If so, that's strange. When set to 110% I go up to 105% or so all the time. Also your temps seem quite low, I'm presuming you're on air. Temps never going over 60c would explain why you never throttle. Can I ask for full system specs? I'm wondering if your PSU isn't underpowered for running your cards at full strength.

The other strange thing is getting such high clocks with only a setting of +120 Mhz on this card. You set your overclock with MSI AB, right? I can get the same effect, IF I max the voltage slider. If you're at stock, as I am, +120 should only be getting you to the mid 1400's.

I'm curious to see what your scores are in Firestrike, too, to see if you're actually getting the higher clock performance that your monitoring is indicating you are. It seems like you're somehow being both overvolted and underpowered at the same time. The thing is, if this is actually getting you higher clocks, I'd be curious to see if it can be duplicated!

BTW, Firestrike doesn't last long enough to really push your GPU temps/power to max. I'd try Unigine Heaven 4.0 for that.

I ignorantly took the chip out and somehow bent a few pins in the process. I didn't think about it until the computer would not post. Popped the chip back out and saw that the socket was screwed. When I tried to fix them with a magnifying glass+needle, two of the pins fell off completely. GRRRR. I hope the chip still works

Here's my 3dmark score:
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/10434660

I actually manage to go over 12k in firestrike with CPU @4.7Ghz, but I slightly clocked it down to 4.6GHz because I don't need it higher and dont want to put more voltage on the CPU.

I also ran Unigine Heaven for two full loops and then benchmarked. Result is attached.
Below's an excerpt from the GPU-Z log during Heaven benchmark, first one is with the highest recorder GPU Temperature I get. The Fan speeds are default, max at 65% speed, so if I would set a more agressive custom curve the temps would be actually lower.

1st log: highest recorder Temp in °C --> 65°C
2nd log: highest recorded Power Consumption [% TDP] --> 76%

those settings dont really mean much since it depends on your bios. just post your core and memory clocks, not offsets

Some of us need a modded bios. My card boosted to 1392 out of the box with stock voltage maxed and 115% power target. I modified the stock bios and was able to achieve 1500 on the core, but there were artifacts. So in my case, without a modded bios with additional voltage, I would get subpar performance with my 970. The stock bios throttled at 201/232 @ 115% power target. Stopped throttling when I set the power target to 201/250 @124% and tdp to 250.
