GIGABYTE GTX 9xx H2O/AIR BIOS Tweaking ┌(ô益ô)┐ - Page 336

It really is not THAT bad and my card overclocks WONDERFULLY, (i sit safely with room to grow at 1500 on the core and 3800 on the memory and never goes higher than 73c) I actually have had it since august and have been using your bios since then as well. I will most likely just hang on to it and see if it gets worse as i have no igpu and i can't be without a pc lol i may just apply newer thermal paste to it as well. I still have like 2 and a half years on the warranty and i may want to upgrade before then biggrin.gif

EDIT: i just called GB and it looks like they offer advanced replacement, so that is what I will do:thumb:

If you don't mind, can we find out where it "breaks"? I just don't want to have any more power defined than what is necessary.

This is dialed back to 455W (vs the 451W where you had perfcaps). Could the 4 watts be all that is needed?

Here is another, this time it is is it 460W (vs the 451W where you had perfcaps) or is 9 watts all that is needed?
H2O_RC1F4_DP0xzztest4.zip 152k .zip file

Or will you need to go back to the 465W test you just ran?

evo.gif

so i just ran ffxiv on testbios3 and i saw the same throttling as on RC1 so 4watts is not enough...
i ended the test early because even msi ab with 1second polling rate reported the throttling:
GPU-ZSensorLogtest3.txt 808k .txt file

just flashed testbios4 and now my power% slider in msi ab has an upper limit of 149%, not 150%, is this supposed to be or a bug?

Actually i didn't have coil whine with default bios btw, it was so quiet, and i could hear all, because the default fan is like 2000 RMP that's why when i played crysis 3 with the V4BETAF4 i was supprised
Other thing i wish to ask with the new RC1 bios my fan spin even more like i said in prev post to make sure it keep it 71-72 degree it goes to 79-80 %
Is that bad for the fan or it is no problem at all, i am not talking about the noise, but for life span and security of the card, you know what happen when the fan will stop..

Got a question for you GB gurus here. I recently got a GB Xtreme Windforce 980ti & have ran into some problems with OCing it. Even at it's stock settings I get a constant percap of Vrel in GPUz, & I am not getting much of an OC out of it at all. Temps are the only thing I am happy with on this card as I have never seen them go over 72C even with the voltage up at 1.23. The problem is no matter what I do it ends up crashing with an OC above 1501 on the core & the memory has been even more frustrating as there have been times I've been able to run it at 2000 & times that even a 50Mhz bump on the mem caused crashes. Also another very strange thing I have noticed about this particular card is I have never seen any artifacting with it, it just straight up crashes with no warning. For the most part the crashes will be just video driver crashes where the screen will blank out for a sec then the game or benchmark I happen to be running will come back on with no sound & the card will start running at 1216Mhz core. Do you guys think flashing the bios to something different would help or did I just get a dud that I need to send back to GB?

I am very frustrated since I got this card to do some decent OCing & be able to play my games at 2k to 4k res. So far none of that is really happening with the exception of a couple firestrike runs I got to complete at 1553/2001 with 35Mv added on top of the 130% PL. Since then I have not been able to reproduce those results & have never been able to play games at those clock speeds.Right now to be able to game without crashes the best I can do is 1261/1801 with PL set to 130% which ends up giving me 1487.5/1800.5 after boost according to GPUz with a constant Perfcap of Vrel no matter what I do! I am using AB to do my OCing & have added no extra voltage other than turning the PL up to 130% with my current settings. My sig rig is currently up to date if you are wondering what other components I am using, I am also using the current 361.75 drivers . Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am very unhappy with my card as it stands & am really considering contacting GB for an exchange. The constant Vrel Perfcap is what is bothering me the most as it does it no matter if I am using the stock settings or an OC. I really do not think that it should be doing that & it has me starting to think I have a defective card. mad.gif

so you have a constant vrel perfcap and you did not change your voltage slider in afterburner, seems related doesnt it?
are you still on the bios this card came with or did you flash another bios?
if you are oc'ing, always turn your power and voltage sliders in afterburner all the way up first before finding your max stable speeds

Hello Nvidia enthusiasts, fans, designers, and gamers.

Here is a gtx 970 bios mod from the this post that is 1.312v and its had been altered to 1531Mhz from 1506Mhz. The card has 1x 8 pin and 1x 6 pin PEG. Is it possible to up the PEG rail 8 pin all the way to 199000? Also, after some adjustments, the card boosted to 287w with full % in MSI afterburner, never seen that before, most was 263w. Can it be pushed even farther without using MSI afterburner? the 100% power is 250w, can it be pushed to, say 299w or higher in MBT? Goal is to not use MSI afterburner any longer. Also, tempuratures are not a problem, and can the voltages be pushed further than 1.312v, and less VDROOP on the lower CLKs?

312v287w.zip 135k .zip file

Have a blessed week,

Teknidux

I have turned the voltage slider up before & it still gives me the Vrel Perfcap. I was also under the assumption extra voltage is less of a factor with big maxwell than temp. I'll give it a try but what strikes me as funny is that it gives me a Vrel Perfcap even at it's stock settings. Also I am running the original bios it came with.

its normal that the stock bios is giving you perfcaps, thats the reason the custom bios in the OP even exists. why dont you try flashing the custom bios and see if you still get perfcaps after maxxing both sliders in afterburner

Well the perfcaps being normal makes me feel a little bit better, I think I will flash the bios on here for my card tonight. It just struck me as odd that it would hit a performance cap even at stock settings. I still got a lot to learn about OCing Nvidia cards it seems. The more extra voltage I give it the higher the boost goes, definitely not as straight forward as OCing AMD cards. Also the voltage is locked on these cards apparently because 1.23 is the max it will go no matter how high I put the slider too. Trial & error I guess. My main concern was that there was something wrong with my card which doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks for the replies, + rep. thumb.gif

Thanks for the replies, + rep. thumb.gif

yes the maximum voltage is set in the bios, when you increase the voltage in afterburner, you just allow your card to use the max voltage that is set in the bios.
what is the ASIC of your card? with a low asic value you need more voltage to push your card higher, with a high ASIC your card can boost high without much additional voltage
