Wish you the best of luck on the new GPU! specool.gif
Just a slight config issue. There are two values that are identical, one is rounded down one is rounded up, it is no problem at all as far as testing, same values just a visual thing saying 149% instead of 150%.

Any perfcaps with this test 4?
Perfcaps are perfectly normal with a STOCK BIOS even with both sliders maxxed. That's one of the "features" of the BIOS' here, the perfcaps are removed (still tweaking). Sounds like you want a MOD BIOS smile.gif

We just happen to have one for your GPU that will remove perfcaps smile.gif

Will reply more later GTG

Thanks for the replies, I'm still a noob at OCing period & started with AMD cards so all the info has been really helpful. + rep. It does make sense now that you put it that way about the sliders in AB, I was just worried it would actually add that much extra voltage, doh.gif I still have a few questions though, would definitely appreciate if you could point me in the right direction with them. Is the G1 bios you linked me too compatible with my card, I have the extreme windforce 980ti? Once I do flash the G1 air or Extreme air bios you have on here will adjusting the voltage be the same as with the stock bios? I mean if I max the extra voltage & PL sliders will it still just go to the max voltage set in the custom bios? Also could you please link me to the page that explains how to flash the bios with a Nvidia maxwell card. I know I have seen it before but can't seem to find it right now. Thanks for any help you can give me, I just want to make sure I completely understand how to flash my bios properly before I take the plunge. thumb.gif

the new H2O bios works great (1.293v) my card is stable at 1600/8000 and is hitting max. 55c after 8h+ of playing. thanks to this thread i known almost perfecly how my card works, so ive endet up with a mix between the H2O and the Air Bios. as i mentioned before, my card can handle 1580 fine on air too. i now just edited the 1.293 H2O bios with the voltage table of the air bios, kept everything else as it was and its working just as fine at 1580/8000 with 1.237v smile.gif temps are 5c lower too. the voltage trade off feels not right for only 20mhz (cant push further than 1600) so i have a better feeling if its running at 1.237v biggrin.gif

question about the ek waterblocks for these gigabyte 980ti cards. do i need an ek backplate to go along with the waterblock or is that optional? i was under the impression i needed the backplate but i read somewhere that it was optional?

Technically, it's optional. That being said, you want it; my backplate gets REALLY hot to the touch. I don't want to think about that heat not having anywhere to go (staying on the PCB). Also looks really good and adds some stability.

1. yes this bios is for your card, its the extreme edition bios
2. adjusting the voltage and power sliders in afterburner will ALWAYS only allow what is set as the maximum value in the bios, no matter of custom bios or not. with this custom bios you have to max the voltage and power sliders all the time (at least while running any game or benchmark) so you will have no perfcaps and your card boosts to the speed set in the bios.
3. here is a nice thread about how to flash your bios:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1523391/easy-nvflash-guide-with-pictures-for-gtx-970-980

but just to be on the safe side, close afterburner and any other hardware monitoring tools before flashing thumb.gif

yes it is, H2O G1 DP. but if you want to flash the new one, flash rc2, Laithan made some adjustments compared to the "winner" bios wink.gif

Thank you so much for helping the last couple days, + rep once again. The links & advice you & Laithan provided me with have been a tremendous help & gave me a much better understanding of how to tweak my GPU. I have actually found a very stable setting with the stock bios allowing me to game at 1503/2001 with 1.23v. Which I think I may stick with for awhile now that I know the perfcaps are not a sign of instability or anything bad. My main goal was to find a stable setting which would allow me to have my everyday clock speeds set at 1500/2000 which I have hit thanks to your guys advice. I did however DL the custom BIOS & bookmark the link with the flashing guide you provided me. I do intend to flash my BIOS but will take my time studying this & the flashing guide thread before I proceed now that I have found a stable OC I am happy with. biggrin.gif Once again thanks for all the help you guys rock! thumb.gif
