GIGABYTE GTX 9xx H2O/AIR BIOS Tweaking ┌(ô益ô)┐ - Page 340

And another fan....

Think I may swap this fan for something a tad quieter though. Possibly two 80mm fans. Have I lost the plot?

You were the only one that reported the PWR perfcaps.

You stayed up until 4am testing the changes.

You flashed your GPU, took log files and reported the results.

Thanks to your willingness to test we've fixed a "bug" (not really a bug but when we say NO perfcaps we want to MEAN it wink.gif )

Excellent thanks for the feedback smile.gif

Yes the back plate is actually a fairly thick piece of aluminum and technically (and marketed as) a PASSIVE heat sync. If you look at this pic you can see the thermals pads used on the BACK of the GPU to help draw heat away.

The links & advice you & Laithan provided me with have been a tremendous help & gave me a much better understanding of how to tweak my GPU. I have actually found a very stable setting with the stock bios allowing me to game at 1503/2001 with 1.23v. Which I think I may stick with for awhile now that I know the perfcaps are not a sign of instability or anything bad. My main goal was to find a stable setting which would allow me to have my everyday clock speeds set at 1500/2000 which I have hit thanks to your guys advice. I did however DL the custom BIOS & bookmark the link with the flashing guide you provided me. I do intend to flash my BIOS but will take my time studying this & the flashing guide thread before I proceed now that I have found a stable OC I am happy with. biggrin.gif Once again thanks for all the help you guys rock! thumb.gif

Thanks bud!
Any questions just ask!

rolleyes.gif Oops..The 970 BIOS posted in the OP is for SAMSUNG ram. The HYNIX ram is a different BIOS however you can still use all the same tweaks you just need to copy them over to YOUR BIOS (extract YOUR BIOS, open side by side with the BIOS in the OP using Maxwell BIOS Tweaker v1.36 and copy ALL settings over identically, triple check). If you are not sure how to do this let me know.

What version is your BIOS? F10/F11 or F50/F51?

Please confirm what you mean by "1.8"... Where do you see this?

PS. I do have this warning and maybe it wasn't noticed and I should make it more obvious. Warning in OP (Click to show)

Sweet! As you now know doing this can make a considerable difference with GPU temps. Bravo! thumb.gif

It does make sense now that you put it that way about the sliders in AB, I was just worried it would actually add that much extra voltage, doh.gif I still have a few questions though, would definitely appreciate if you could point me in the right direction with them. Is the G1 bios you linked me too compatible with my card, I have the extreme windforce 980ti?

THIS is the correct BIOS for your card. You have the extreme card so you need to use the extreme BIOS smile.gif

Installed the RC2 bios --- maxed the power slider in PX16 added +193 to the core and +600 on the memory ran Firestrike and got this.

Maybe I'll raise the voltage slider. wink.gif

My old card was the best. I'm limited to 1519 due to artifacts. More voltage might help, but I don't know how much. In the BIOS its set to 1.281v. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

First post here! Wooohoooo!wheee.gif

So, turns out my card is not stable on the AIR_RC1F4_DD.rom @1529, but it is really close (Folding at home is the only thing that has complained and it did it after running for 2 days straight). I figure I need probably one more step on the voltage and i'd be good so I flashed the H2O_RC1F4_DD.rom to get the extra voltage and no matter what I set my Power% or Voltage slider to, I cannot get the card from PerfCap'n from VRel @1509 once it hits 67-68C. I went back to the AIR rom and clocked it at 1509 and it does not PerfCap at all. What gives?

With that said, would it be worth trying to grab the AIR EXTREME voltage table and try that on the AIR rom for the small voltage bump? Nevermind this one!

Also, would it be safe to drop the CLK 1-5 down to the stock BIOS levels to decrease idle power consumption or will that lead to instability? Already did this too, but if someone has something to say I wouldn't mind some opinions or experience.
I apologize if this has all been covered before, it's kinda hard to sift through 340 pages cheers.gif

EDIT:
So, I messed with the voltage tables and got it to 1.254v (1.250v in BIOS) without any PerfCaps @1529, but Folding@Home still complained, although only once now versus 3 times and failing to continue. I modded the voltage tables again for one more bump so i'll see how that goes when I get home tonight to flash the new rom.

Just sharing this before bed, too tired to reply to others ATM smile.gif

~2 Hours of The Witcher 3, 4k, max settings with the enhanced texture mod running at 1584Mhz H2O Bios SLI

This is with RC2 validation test. So far looks great smile.gif
RC2W34KMAX1584Mhz.txt 2553k .txt file

Just a snapshot pic below but the full log is above. Throw it into excel and have fun wink.gif Never one perfcap or throttle voltage is 1.293v. Note the transitions from idle speeds (1291Mhz) to boost speeds (1584Mhz) are silky smooth and snappy.

Oh and I forot to mention, I recorded a 1080p video (downscaled) with shadowplay at the same time tongue.gif
I have the entire 2 hours the video is over 8GB lol

do you get artifacts in rise of the tomb raider? i played it for 3 hours so far and i think i saw black boxes on my screen for a split second a few times but was hoping i was imagining it or its a bug in the game rolleyes.gif
i am stable at 1586/4000 but my 24/7 OC is 1566/3750 so i didnt think my OC was the problem
