The lower the number the more often the fan profile will check the GPU temp and adjust accordingly. If you use the default value there is always a delay. In other words if I want my fan curve to hit 2500 rpm at 70C, it might not ACTUALLY hit 2500 rpm until the GPU is at 72C.. lowering that refresh will reduce this lag at the cost of some CPU cycles... but you really don't need to care, I don't see any performance hit that I can reliably measure. The other option is to just compensate in the fan curve for the delay.. in other words using that same example, tell the fan curve to hit 2500 rpm at 68C instead of 70C.

I am not opposed to tweaking the fan curve in the BIOS if the current one isn't satisfactory. I know there's always a mix of people saying it is too loud or not cool enough (can't please everyone). We should also keep in mind that you don't have a G1 cooler so your experience/specific settings may differ a little bit.

Having said that, can folks that are testing RC2 on AIR please report how the AUTO fan settings are working for you? Balance of cooling and noise or is it leaning too much one way or the other? I appreciate the feedback!

In post 3663 I have edited my 980G1 bios based on your unleashed 980 bios and made tweaks to fan curve, last screenshot shows the parameters.
IMO bypassing software is a very positive thing. Relying on hardware is always superior. That's why hardcore oc'ers prefere cpu oc through bios not motherboard bundled software. Software is always susptable to problems, crashes, instability, incompatibility, unreliability etc etc, nothing beats native function.
Nekoloy (or whoever asked about fan settings) see it if he's interested in more info, though that bios is for 980 not 980ti

That's what i am saying, with my case which is cooled enough and my play style i don't need this noise now or anyday and still want to see bios settings for the fan so i can rely on hardware.
I made my pc to be very well ventilated with minimum sound, what's wrong with that i don't understand, i use it in nights sometimes and it needs to be quiet, because my gf is sleeping then.

What do you want exactly Nikoloy?
I can edit what you need if you send me the bios you're using currently for fan settings. But remember that if you want performance you want better cooling(even if you have uber cooling in your case, your graphic card VRM and PCB gets REALLY hot when you OC) and NOT to undercool your card (because your GF is sleeping in the same room), or you can play when she's awake, or when she is sleeping in another room biggrin.gif

Edit: you want this fan curve? Remember in vBIOS you only can set 3 points(and temps) but that's not an issue with what you want since it almost a straight line from around 49C(1%) to 82C(100%). Again I can help but I strongly advice not to undercool.

After an hour of SW:BF @ 1440p/HIGH settings with uber case cooling biggrin.gif

My PC is the living room. My wife won't let me connect the PC to the Onkyo HT in our bedroom. She says the all the fans remind her of a dustbuster or a hair dryer getting ready to blow up. ROFL

Yes that is the curve i wish to have in bios because i use it in afterburn anyway but it bugs sometimes. I do not overclock, i simply enjoy 1455Mhz without any perf caps and things like that so it's ok. How is 68-73 degree undercool ? My brother play with 80-83 degree all the time and he don't give ****e. Thanks for understanding my case i appreciate it.

Ok i surrend, now its all connected and the problem appears only when exiting watch dogs or if i pause it. I played hours at alan wake skyrim and other games and fans stops regulary and temps are at max 55°. So i don't know why, can a game control my fans ? I think no, how can watch dogs load my fans over the max speed ? Temps in watch dogs are the same. I don't know what to do i think i keep the gpu in this way, when i exit watch dogs i have to run furmark for two second close it and fans returns ok.

My original bios is on the post # 3736 I am using RC1 which i find perfect except for the fan settings, so that's what i am wanting to change. I am in work atm and cannot have access to my Pc. Cheers man.

Currently using the mod bios with the fan profile above. I noticed on the stock bios for me, when the GPU reached 75C the fans would spin up to 70% so I applied a fan profile for the modded bios to mimic the stock bios auto fan profile and it seems to be doing great and it's never going over 76C. biggrin.gif

Next step.. replace Corsair H60 CPU Cooler with something quieter and better performing.
