On the other hand, the Grizzly Hydronaut product has a lot, lot better $/oz or $/g price, for us semi-cheapskates out there!
Arrgh! One of the worst parts of this water damage hotel stay?  Separation from my gaming PC!  Dinking around on terribly underpowered laptops or even worse, my work iPhone...  buttkick.gifpuke.gifupsidedwnsmiley.gif

But at least there wasn't any water damage to the office room or any of the PCs at the house! typer.gif

I've always been a "you get what you pay for" guy so price (I'm NOT rich) never mattered out of principle.. it just meant I had to wait longer to get what I want. Who can't afford $16.95 though? smile.gif

That applicator looks nice.. You guys have to check out the Kryonaut applicator... It's dreamy. smile.gif

Bonus (Click to show)

Different coolers could respond differently to the application method. ie: coolers where the heat pipes make direct contact or not and more importantly the SIZE/SHAPE of the die! Some of the CPUs these days are pretty large. GM200 was fairly large also. Some rectangular. Nothing mentioned about that..

I also think that when you apply "too much" it's a pretty obvious answer as to what the results would be.. the force and pressure of the cooler is going to remove excess TIM out the sides right? It's no longer too much unless it didn't spread..

Obviously hitting the limit would be bad, but I assumed it would use a lot more?

Temp never went above 63c mostly staying at 60c smile.gif

That's perfectly fine. I've seen over 130% before. Don't get me started about the TDP% value and how it's meaningless. It's not relative to the percentage of the TDP section of the BIOS, power% slider or maximum power defined. All it tells us is that more or less power is being used not how much and it's not accurately proportionate to actual power used (as measured with a wall meter).

So all it tells us is that 110% power usage was more than 109% power usage... whatever wattage that was. wink.gif

Temp never went above 63C? Is your PC in the freezer? lol. You ran it with these settings? Methinks maybe not wink.gif

In the UK we have the strixx 1070 at a whopping £479.99 that's $684.73

What is going on ???? this as to stop otherwise the above may just well come true

980Ti's 3x or 4x should beat 1080 sli in well scaling games (in theory) unless they are looking to apply this to all prior GPUs also. We may see a "well if you want 3 way or 4 way SLI you need to use the driver from last year.."

I can tell you one thing, there's NO WAY I am buying a 1080 now.. and not because of 3/4 way SLI (I never put more than 2 GPUs in my PC)... it is because there is some serious marketing BS going on right now which I want no part of.. I'll wait for bargain bin discounts just out of spite... but more importantly it's not GP100...and that chip exists today already.. We just can't have it yet.

Ok back again with some results. My seemingly stable, for now anyway, clocks are 1544/7900.

However when I'm running FFXIV sometimes the image will get a bit dark, flashing as if the lights are going out, I'm also seeing power % dip to 95-98 at these points. Even saw one second dip to 88%.
When I say flashing I don't mean permanent flashing, it sort of only happens on a camera angle change(not scene change).
Is this an issue just with running 4k? Am I requesting more power than I can draw?

And yes, settings are at max biggrin.gif My pc is not in a freezer, but it is in Norway so something similar I guess hehe.

With the moded bios witch results in mhz do I have on 980ti extreme (air)?

Is it worth to flash this bios?

I tried to record the flashing I was talking about: First two happen at around 0:28 , next one at 1:03 then there's a few more at the end of the video.

I have to +rep both you guys ... great insights, well expressed and written! thumb.gif

Laithan you literally take the words out of my mouth whenever I read your posts! ASIC SMAISIC / E^G@ and many more! And Harney has the insights along with a nice sense of humor! I use to have a rule that I'd +R anyone at OCN that could make me laugh, well it's getting a bit out of hand, your a funny guy wink.gif

There are a few G1 "freak" cards as far as cooling goes ... remember THIS one, I thought my temp sensor was bad until we attributed some of it to my version of "Ghetto" cooling biggrin.gif

I'm really glad I didn't dump my G1 during the panic sales ... GP104 has been a "Yawner" for me also. By the way Titan/1080TI will be GP102 not GP100 (Tesla) according to Videocardz and they are pretty reliable. And on the G1/Extreme stock market (ebay) prices are already rebounding a bit to $450-$500 as early Pascal is exposed tongue.gif

I disagree , once you move past SLI your performance boost goes way down, quad sometimes give less performance and this is on Dx11 games.
Once we move to "real" Dx12 you be lucky the game devs get SLI , 2 way.

So, Nvidia are focusing there resources to SLI only , it make perfect sense to me.
Plus these new cards are so fast, the app lag way behind, SLI 1080ti would be overkill even at 4k, well maybe not overkill but give plenty performance.

Thanks bud smile.gif

Yes I really feel bad for those that did... 1080 isn't a single 4K card meaning you still need SLI and it's a lot cheaper to get (2) 980Ti's in SLI than (2) gimped 1080's.

I had heard about GP102 also..

NVIDIA and ALL VENDORS... HEAR ME NOW... I'M NOT BUYING GP102. You can try to nickel and dime me all you want but my next GPU is GP100 or an AMD card.....

GP102 is another marketing episode.. What are there schools on how to screw your customer the most now? Again... GP100 exists NOW..

I did mention SLI but my main point was this that being the crazy prices us in the uk have to put up with re the 1080 and more so the 1070
i know over 10 peeps now that have given up on the pc and moved to console mainly down to cost and the way nvidia is trying to be apple forcing a new phone card down your throat each year ...

gtx 1070
£479.99 that's $684.73

that was my point really the sli i added in mainly due to who would really be left in the market just elite enthusiast with money to burn to run there benchmarks..

sry if the 1st post came across wrong ...
