I just cannot always respond right away but there's many others as knowledgeable or more than I am thankfully tongue.gif

I'm going to wait before I respond I have a feeling someone helped you already and I'd have a late reply again (I read the posts in order lol).

Problem solved: reflashed the bios.

But with the original bios he came do 2000mhz on memory's and not with this one. It's strange. Also he can do more score on heaven with stock oc rom then with this one. He has vrel perfcaps with stock and can boost more? Lol that's weird

I suspect it's just a matter of understanding the differences between the BIOS' and how they are tweaked. Please reference this post I recently typed (just so I don't have to type it again lol). Allowing more power and/or voltage is never going to further restrict a GPU wink.gif

Please have him follow that advice to overclock properly with this BIOS, let me know. smile.gif

After all if i want lower temps i just not add so much voltage to it and it works like right! But still i worked on lowering my case and gpu temps so now i hit 73-75 in highest load on witcher 3 blood and wine which is kinda good for +100 Mv

I would like to put it this way... This isn't "Push button overclocking"... It's also NOT extreme overclocking... There's a bit of "do it yourself" here for sure. You need to learn your GPU and how to flash the modified BIOS. Once that's done, the work has only just STARTED!

You've got to tie up wires, blow out dust, replace clogged filters, upgrade fans, upgrade airflow (sometimes the case needs to stay open like I do) and of course implement Ghetto cool tech™ thumbsupsmiley.png

gtg wil reply more later

Oh yes they are VERY pricey.. The correct pads to use would depend on what cooler you have. Stock or Waterblock?

no, 100x15 might do HALF your memory chips and then you'd need another one for the VRMs unless you have a water block then you'd need 2 (pads on the back of the GPU and VRMs also). You don't want to hear this but you would want to order extra JIC. Much better to have too much than not enough when the GPU is apart. I have 2 GPUs under water blocks so the pads were a small fortune along for from and back of both GPUs. The film needs to be removed from BOTH sides when applying.

I used 1.0mm for both memory and VRMs (and back of GPU) on my EK waterblocks but I think technically the memory chips call for .5mm and VRMs 1.0mm.

Any reviews on the GV-N1070G1 GAMING yet? Are you getting one Laithan?

I'm debating between the 1070 G1 or perhaps going EVGA this time.

I have stock G1 cooler. Ok... so i think i will not buy these thermal pads... Maybe only on vrm in future, when i decide to change TIM on gpu. For now i leave as it is. In two years i change completly my PC so if my card survive that long i'll be happy. biggrin.gif Ofc when i observe increase in temps than i'll start work on it.

Thanks for your tips and help. smile.gif

Question for yall, I flashed my g1 gaming 970 bios, OC'd a bit, and seem stable, but I'm seeing that some people have a fan speed max set to 4200, is this actually a speed the fans can reach if you edit the bios My current fans max at 3245, is it really safe to change the bios to 4200 rpm?

Also is it normal to have power throttling with furmark runs? I'm getting 140% pow usage in furmark which results in throttling, but Heaven and 3dmark Firestrike only push it to about 104%. Actual games dont seem to be capable of getting the power to even 100%. Does that mean I could safely overclock further in games? Ran crysis 3 and bioshock infinite at 4k to stress it and still cant seem to get power usage to be an issue in real world games.

Stats-
Sliders at 150, and 100mv, 91 temp
Core clock: 1581 + 50 core
Memory: 1951(3902) + 400
I had a 3dmark crash at +60 core, so stuck with 50, and I've always had issues getting memory to 450 since owning the card so i gave up and left it at 400.

Do you guys expect an unlocked bios to actually make a difference in the gtx 1070? I'm contemplating buying one once the stock settles down and such. Would consider getting a watercooled variant if this bios thing actually makes a difference.

@ Laithan

As far as am aware its fake but the thing is it would sell
and TBH i think it looks great but i suspect the costs to use the IP would be high ect but who knows either way it would sell .....

But as always it would just go OTT with all of manufactures doing similar and things would just seem silly then

so its a fine line with things like this

Wondering if someone can help me with improving my case fan setup so I can help the card drop a few degrees in temp.

For my liking, I'm just finding the card a little hot or rather, I need to keep the fans running at 70% which for my taste is too loud.

I can't use my nice 1500/2000 OC because it gets too hot for me, mid to high 60's celcius on witcher 3. I know most of you will say it's not hot but again, what I'm looking to do here is improve my temps regardless.

1) Would replacing the stock TIM help?

2) I currently have 2 14cm intakes on my case, 1 x14cm side intake for the gpu, 1x12cm top exh, 1x12cm rear exh.

The 14cm intakes are running at 7v instead of 12 (I found this to work better for temps) and the top/rear are running at full.

I also have a Noctua NH-d14 with 2 fans on it, running at full.

I will soon be putting in a 2nd top 12cm exh fan, just waiting for my case expansion kit to arrive.

So I guess I'm asking the following.

1) Those of you who have replaced the TIM, what did you observe?

2) Will adding a fan inside the case improve things at all?

Thanks!

Witcher 3 and 60 degrees on air looks to me like fairytale smile.gif On blood and wine after so much fixing fans and position i get now 70-73 degrees finaly something good for me and not 80 degree, lol.
I would not touch anything in your place, your card have a good paste on it, no point avoiding warranty...
