GIGABYTE GTX 9xx H2O/AIR BIOS Tweaking ┌(ô益ô)┐ - Page 588

Hello All,

I am SO glad i found this forum/thread, finally.

I have a Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme Gaming, ASIC 74.2%, the card is still under warranty, just purchased 4 mo ago. I'm running Win 10 - build 1511

I have a few questions I need help with, much appreciated.

I don't seem to be able to get a decent overclock on this card. It won't even take a +100MHz core & +200Mhz on the Samsung memory without crashing ( drivers are 368.81). Even with the voltage slider maxed it gives perfcap in Voltage.

1. LN Bios switch. When to use, how to use.

My card is running on air. It doesn't have temp issues, runs at max 67C under 100% load. Idles at 38C in a room kept at 22C.

Can someone explain what this LN Bios switch is for - other than liquid nitrogen usage (I'm assuming it also gives more power to the card, since it comes with an additional power socket, which I have plugged into the PSU ( 1000W Corsair Platinum- the fan doesn't even come on with my power draw/s) on a separate cord.

Can this Bios be used as a better alternative to the "regular" bios?

Can this Bios be extracted and messed with? And if yes , how? As in " OK, maybe we don't flash the main BIOS with a custom one (warranty issues) and we flash the LN one with a custom Bios? Feasible??, especially since with this button pressed we should be using an extra power cord?

2. Regular BIOS Flash

My extracted Bios (the regular one) doesn't match (serials-wise) any of the listed custom MUMOD BIos' even for the Xtreme Gaming. I understand I'm supposed to open two windows in Bios Tweaker and copy settings from one to the other. The question is from which one ? I have copied from the F10 MUMOD for Xtreme Gaming to my extracted Bios, except the voltage table values sometimes are not selectable to the values in the MUMOD F10 one ( they differ slightly). I have tried to keep the curve smooth, in many instances having to give slightly more voltage than the MUMOD version

Also I see the Checksum(on the common tab) has changed after modifying the extracted one - --- will this cause a flashing issue?

I am (a lot) lost here. I'm enclosing the original extracted BIOS and the one I modified with copied (mostly) values from the MUMOD Bios

Can someone help me please? GM200.zip 145k .zip file

I cleared the dust, but it continue to do so.

Have you found a solution yet?

What I have done in the past is the following:

1. Disassemble the cooler of the card.
2. Blow out dust completely (preferably with a compressor - on low)
2. Clean the fans & fins with plenty of BRAKE CLEAN and let dry.
4. Apply WD40 (that you have sprayed into a recipient, not directly on the fan) with a toothpick ( as in dip the toothpick in it and let drip on the axle(rotor) of the fan. ONE drop per fan is enough, don't overdo it.

Usually this works - but could be just a temporary fix, unfortunately - if your fan bearings are gone already.

Hope you can fix it smile.gif

Laithan , the OP of this thread , is the best person to ask , and no doubt he will chip in soon , but your Original bios is a F10 , so I am not sure why it doesn't match the F10 in the OP ? ( one with the red haired Muppet smile.gif )

I had some voltage issues like you on my 970 and think the tip was to use the + and - keys instead of using the up+down arrows in Maxwell 1.36

Yeah, the red head Muppet F10 is the one i used to copy values to my extracted one(which is GV-N87XTREME-6GD_S/F10). I had no idea you could use the + - or up down on the sliders--. I was talking about the sliders in the voltage table (not the cases in the power table). The stepping on my voltage sliders is different than his values( as in - I can't get his values. mine is not as granulary as his).
I also have less entries in the beginning of that table

Do you know anything about the LN2 Bios?

Thanks for chiming in thumb.gif

No sorry I just have a lowly GTX 970 smile.gif ...which MUMOD has maxed out though , it won't take any further Overclocks either , mostly cos mine has Hynix memory which on the 970 is known to not be overclockable , perhaps your 980 Extreme is pretty much maxed . out of the Factory on Air ?

For the sliders in the Voltage Table , you can use the Left/Right Arrow keys after clicking on the slider, better control than the sliders themselves.

Your 970 is not "lowly" at all - I seriously considered it before getting the 980ti , But I figured Pascal for what it is - just a die shrink and a few tweaks - evolutionary - not revolutionary, and figured I can get a couple/three yrs use out of the 980ti instead. Had to sell my first born to get it ( here in Europe prices are much higher than in the US), but hey - hopefully I can get it to come close to pascal by overclocking it? wink.gif

That LN Switch intrigues me to no end .... it such BS the Gigabyte manual does not explain anything about it. And there's almost no info on the net either (that I could find at least)

BTW how can i make a signature with my system specs like you?thumb.gif

All the "reviews" I read about this Xtreme edition 980ti mention 1500Mhz easy. And their ASIC is lower than mine. Something's fishy here

Higher ASIC does not mean higher OC .......

You have to use RigBuilder at the top of the Window on the Black Bar , I think there is a how to actually in the 1st Private message you get from the Forum when you Register. Once you have it filled in , in your Profile you can add your Rig to your Sig. at the very bottom.

I think you have better things to do though if you sold your 1st born wink.gif ....... you'll need two more for Volta smile.gif

Just had a quick read on LN2 out of interest and they all seem to mention having to hard mod the card by connecting pins , so I am not sure what good the switch is..... hopefully some more enlightened User will be here soon to help you....

Read thru all that. I'm preeety sure that applies to that specific Asus card. Not to our Gigabytes. Compared the PCB pics - they don't look anything like the GB ones. But, I could be wrong
