Regarding the Custom Fan BIOS Profile, to apply it I just need to alter the current fan profile bios (MUMOD Bios) using Maxwell Bios Tweaker and reflash it again correct? Or can I apply the fan profile a different way without reflashing?
Is there any custom fan profile specifically for 970 G1? or it doesn't matter if it's 970 or 980.

Sorry for all the questions, I am quite new to this...

You only need MSI AfterBurner to adjust the Fan Curve if the MUMOD Bios isn't quite right for your Gaming/Benching scenario.

You do have to setup MSI AB to allow you to adjust the curve but that is one checkbox to tick.... but so far I have found on my 970 G1 the MUMOD Curve is pretty good.

i just copy and paste everything i see that looks important..
note: my i5 is oc to 4.20GHz... temp peak at 63c
........ gtx970 is at 1455MHz.... temp peak at 91c with fan at 92% "only one fan working, think other one got a short or burnt out"
...will try to fix it or get a replacement fan somehow if possible....

just want to hear yall thoughts on this .... is it good?.... bad??..... can i do anything more to improve it?? .... be brutal, i dont mind lol biggrin.gif

If you want to test FFXIV at 4K like Laithan said for Heat testing , then set DSR to On in NV Control Panel and set the multipler (factors) for your screen so it equals 4K res. pixels..... ie on a 1920x1080 set it to 4X

But be careful 90 Degs is very high , and I think the card starts throttling at those temps..... I see about 70degs

Yes, unfortunately I already tried that and the game still locked up at default clocks. It could even lock up at the main menu when it's not even under load. Also these last couple of driver updates I have had the screen randomly going black for a couple of seconds and then returning. It can do it in a game or just at the desktop. I thought it might be a failed HDCP handshake but maybe that's a driver crash too?

However I have also recently had quite a few BSOD's. The 0xd1 stopcode and driver irql_less_or_not_equal. This points to a memory issue. I have tested my system RAm and it's fine. Also my CPU overclock is fine. Can this be the Nvidia driver (or GPU) causing this?

I did have the latest afterburner beta installed too which I wondered may be causing some issue. So I reverted back to the latest stable.

Sadly I also tried to reinstall GOW4 just to be sure on that, but then the crappy Win Store kept giving me errors and I couldn't even download the game. Eventually I gave up and got a refund.

I will have to keep an eye on the GPU though. I hope it isn't going faulty. It's been fine all this time with your bios and overclock until I started screwing around with Microsoft's new games frown.gif

You need "Ghetto cool fan tech" to the rescue for sure! biggrin.gif

Yah DSR is fun to play with... It's a huge performance hit but gorgeous. Also make sure to go into the settings and select the MAXIMUM graphics preset.

If that is a pic with DSR set at 4X then you did not reset the options and choose 4K res ( 3840 x2160) in the FFXIV settings, and with maximum set as LT said.

then you will see a nice score of 3700 smile.gif instead....

my main screen is a 32inch insignia monitor/tv... 1920 x 1080 is its native res so guessing that why it was force back to window mode?

I am on win10 and a 5820K 6core , so yes a bit higher than you 3794 with stock CPU and FAST Vsync + MUMOD bios only (no OC as I have the crappy hynix mem) At least that is what the file I saved says..... usually in the 3720-3740 range though....

I have never seen my 970 report 4007mb of VRAM like yours in FFXIV , mine always says 3072mb.

If you think 3794 is Good ........ don't look at LT's score smile.gif

All the download links are not working at the moment. I'm not sure what the issue is. I will flag the post to hopefully make this problem known. I am sure it's just a temporary issue and thanks for your patience in advance.
