FX 8320e + MSI 970 Gaming Overclock Settings

Thread Starter
First, I am an amateur at best when it comes to CPU overclocking. I've had to ask for a significant amount of help from this forum and read copious amounts of reviews on both the FX 8320e and the MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard. Luckily, AMD shipped this CPU and Motherboard combo to most review sites, so there are many write-ups available to peruse.

My Rig
FX 8320e @ 4.6 GHz
MSI 970 Gaming
Noctua NH-D14
ddr3 1600 (4x4 GB)
Adata ssd
WD Grenn hdd
Asus r9 280 @ 1180 MHz / 1575 MHz
Seasonic S12G 750 watt
Rosewill Rise Case
Noctua NF-P14 FLX x4
Noctua NF-P12 x1
NZXT Grid+ Fan Controller

Most Bios settings can be seen below in the photos, but here is the basic low down.
CPU Multiplier @ 23
FSB @ 200
AMD Turbo: Disabled
XMP ram profile: Disabled
Ram timing manually set at 9, 9, 9, 24
NB Frequency and HT @ 2400
CPU Voltage @ 1.432v, droops to 1.424v
DRAM Voltage @ 1.510v
NB Voltage : AUTO
AMD Cool n Quiet: Enabled
C6 State: Enabled

With this board, VRM temps seem to be the limiting factor here. Running IBT, VRM temps seemed to level off around 78c and CPU Package levels off around 41c. While gaming, VRM temps range from 54c to 65c and CPU Package never breaks 40c.

Here are the photos. Ask any questions or give any suggestions. Again, I'm an amateur at best when it comes to CPU overclocking.

Hello, i know that is an old post. Can i've some information about C1 state as power saving option?
Is better manual setup for rams than the xmp/amd profile?

Thanks redface.gif

There is an active MSI 970 Gaming thread in the AMD Motherboard sub forum. You may have better luck in that thread.
