Not an AMD guy trying to help a buddy, lock up issues. - Page 4

My GPU is a Radeon Pro HD 7850. I just updated the drivers yesterday so they are current at the moment.

HD7850 2G GDDR5 PCI-E DVI-I/DVI-D/HDMI/DP OC VERSION

That's the full list on my box, probably overkill but hey

I feel it's definitely not my GPU, but either my HDD a or CPU

GPU commands go through the IMC. Unstable IMC can result in failed GPU drivers. Bump up the CPU/NB volts another notch.

I can just be browsing the computer and all of the sudden it just freezes with the screen I was on...cant move mouse, or anything and I have to hold the power down to reboot.

I just updated the mobo via the EZ Flash tool in bios so we will see what happens.

I also ran a check on the drives and no errors came back. I am at a complete loss, and frustrated as hell because I don't know what else to do! I am fixing to run a check on the power supply. I checked all of those by using the OCCT tool.

Sounds like RAM timings to me..
possible CPU/NB and/or NB voltages/frequencies.

a) slop up the RAM timings a notch
b) add some cpu/nb voltage.

Do you have a fan pointed at your VRM heatsink? you should.

Solution! Kind of....so I ran the test on all of my memory and was getting error codes when all 4 sticks were in but not separately. Now I know in the past when my PSU blew before it fried some components of my mobo, which I replaced the mobo completely BUT I never did get a new CPU or HDD. Everything else in my PC has been replaced since the PSU blew up....so I basically just finally replaced it all, except the HDD, and bought a new mobo and CPU from the guy who originally posted this, AND OFICIALLY SWITCHED TO INTEL!!! I couldn't be happier, no freezes since switching and my performance has gone up (FPS wise). So I don't know what the exact problem was, but after replacing my mobo and CPU (mainly the CPU since the mobo was new) it's fixed! Thank you guys for all the comments and helped, as much of a noob that I am I managed a way to try just about all of your recommendations. Learned a lot from this experience.

I say it was the CPU
