Asus GTX 980 Matrix Platinum temps

Stock card, stock air. I haven't done anything except connect it up to my board. In a corsair 600t case. I'm hitting 80+c in most games @ 1920x1080 with mostly max settings (which the card should be able to handle). To name a few of the games, star wars the old republic, tomb raider, metro last light...... I'm getting the feeling something's wrong?

Might be a little on the high side. I have two in sli and neither card goes higher than 78c on the hottest card. That's with a mild oc. Using a rv05 so have a ap181 blowing plenty of air over the cards

Cheers for your reply fake,

Yeah, what worries me is that even with non graphically intense games it still reaches 80+c. Might switch the fans around in my case and have the two 200mm pulling in with the two h80i 120's pushing out and put the mesh door on instead with a couple of 120's on it. If that doesn't work, the only other thing I can think of is that they've maybe used a rubbish thermal compound. I'll silver 5 the gpu see if that helps.

If it still runs hot after that it's going back.

Turns out it was the thermal paste. Changed that and now getting temps between 45-55c.

Yeah that seems pretty unreal, who knows maybe the heatsink wasnt screwed down or he changed fan profiles.
