School Laptop

Hey there OCN
I'm likely heading off to school in the fall, depending if I accept any of my acceptances, and I'll be in need of a laptop since my old Compaq will not suffice in an environment where I require:
-Speed
-Lightweight
-Battery life
-Aesthetics
-Keyboard
-Cooling; I had a Compaq and a Toshiba in my lifetime. The Toshiba experienced no situations with heating and being hot to the touch ever until the huge side vent was covered up by let's say an armchair, it could sit on your lap all day or on the couch arm and be fine. Where as the Compaq had a insufficient airflow through a very harsh restriction for it's cooling and would be hot to the touch constantly sitting on a desk; the thing would probably make a male unable to reproduce if he continually used it while being on his lap over time. Yes I'm being serious.

I'm looking for two types of laptops. Laptop "x" will be for gaming and computing for school. I've already found this one on my own if I decide to go this route.

But in case I don't want to get distracted by my laptop and play games all day instead of doing my school work, attending classes, and having a social experience, I will need laptop "b"; as in boring. Laptop "b" needs to be able to browse the internet with multiple applications open; e.g. : 1 browsing window with multiple tabs open, 1 microsoft word document, and music playing. It should be able to handle this without having slowness side affects such as: lugging, loading wait times.
My current computer is very fast; 4.8gHz daily driver, and I'm in no ways expecting any laptop to match the standards this pc sets. But I don't want something that is annoyingly slow for what I'm planning to use it for. I don't know if laptop "b" would require a dedicated graphics card or not. I also have no grasp on how high ranking of a cpu I would need; I was thinking the i7-4710 is a great little chip scoring just under half in http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-4710HQ+%40+2.50GHz of my desktop cpu.
Bonus - Would you guys go for laptop "x" and avoid the temptations of playing games while away at school and having more time to do stuff like binge watch Netflix since you didn't procrastinate playing games and there's no way you're actually going to do your work until last minute anyways. Or would you go for laptop "boring" and save some cash for being away school and be more encouraged to stay on task and go out?
Thanks in advance OCN

Contrasting MSI GE70 - Asus X550
Asus Pros:
Msi Pros:
- lighter
-faster gpu
-smaller screen (making it portable)
-4gb more ram
-faster cpu
-likely a better keyboard?
-bigger hdd
-in stock
-longer battery life (smaller screen)
-price
Thanks for the suggestion but it doesn't seem right to me
