careful with mix matching rads and blocks, mixing different alloys in a loop is never a good thing.

it's nickel plated copper!

And I know, but thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, you'll rarely find any bare aluminum water cool parts anymore (except in closed loop colors like Corsair's). That will jack up a system in no time, but yeah, copper and/or nickel plated copper mixing won't harm anything as Duality pointed out. Definitely good advice though!

Personally, I avoid mixing alloys if possible anyways.

Copper and Nickel are not alloys, neither is Aluminium. wink.gif

But yes, if you mean mixing metals I try to avoid it, but I won't spit on sponsored parts and I don't mind mixing nickel and copper at all.

It's not a matter of "mixing," most of them are nickel plated copper so I don't see the issue here. Even then I would venture to guess that most of the materials made for water-cooling parts are treated in some way to prevent the possibility of dissimilar metals; I'd say something like stainless steel but I don't have any proof/research to back up my theory.

Oh I forgot to mention the copper piped/aluminium finned radiators...
stainless steel still exhibits galvanic corrosion when paired with a wrong metal, theres no metal safe from galvanic corrosion imho.

Years prior, rads were often aluminum. In fact, the ROG Maximus V had built in blocks for the north bridge that was also made of aluminum. The other alloy that is still used in water cooling is silver. Silver should be avoided when using nickel plated blocks. Some Monsoon fittings are plated in silver, but they aren't plated where water will touch so there shouldn't be a worry. Silver coils should not be used in a loop with nickel blocks.

But that is nickel and silver, copper and nickel don't prove to be a major issue of of now I would believe. I personally run copper on everything but that tends to make things a bit more expensive.
