I would happily get rid of 980 SLI for a Titan X if it would guarantee me 60 fps with decent settings at 4K.

Yeah, if it did I would have considered sli as well. After seeing quad sli results on 5k im still somewhat hopeful that maybe sli or 3way might do decent. If Baasha is nice enough to share more results as he has. It might just be sli needs more tweaking and driver optimizations.

Two card SLI Titan X is sufficient at 4k. I don't own a game that cannot be run at 60fps+ on T-X SLI with maxed settings (a couple without AA). Even the notoriously unoptimized AC:U runs at 60fps if you don't use MSAA. Crysis 3 pulls 90+ average fps maxed out with 2xSMAA. Metro Last Light doesn't even make them break a sweat. Dragon Age: Inquisition is 60+fps at all times without AA... BF4 averages like 110 fps on ultra 4xMSAA... the performance of these cards is just nuts. thumb.gif

Yeah I was referring to 5k and beyond not 4k.

Ah gotcha... yeah they will either need to improve 3+ card scaling (unlikely) or everyone will have to wait for another 2 years for big Pascal (more likely) for maxed 5K gaming to really be viable.

Question for you though, everyone seems to be saying these cards can pull 4K in dual SLI at around 60fps, but no one fails to mention how it performs on those heavy scenes. Does it drop in those intense part of the game, and if so by how much?

Yes it does drop, but I personally haven't seen frame rate vary by more than 10 frames, which is still quite impressive.

The only game I have been playing where I've seen it dip below 60 is Assassin's Creed Unity, but some of that is because I use vsync. Occasionally I will get brief dips to ~45-50fps in that game.

Let me know if there's a particular game you're curious about, and if I own it, I'll test it.

Is that at stock clocks or OC?
