The stock cooler on this thing is pointless. No one is gonna want to play games at 1000-1050 mhz clock speed when they know the card can handle 1400mhz plus.

Im not using a laptop am I? Why should I be limited by power consumption?

For 1000 dollars nvidia should have released something with a built in closed loop like 295x, but I guess it doesnt matter. It only cost 100 dollars to get a decent closed loop or a MK-26 type heatsink.

Up the max TDP on this thing to 350 watt, slap on a new heatsink that can keep up, and there is no way AMD's new card (390x) is gonna compete with that. even with super ram that clocks to 1000 gb/s

If I were to buy one, I'd replace it immediately (well, after a few days after making sure the card is working fine), the overclocking results show the chip is pretty much capable of attaining the same clocks as the GTX 980, and the performance gains are well worth it vs added power consumption, so the limiting factor is the cooler (and then the TDP limit).

I think that most of us plan on slapping on a waterblock and seeing just how high we can overclock this beast. thumb.gif

With the ram on the back, will EK etc have to cater for this in their designs?

Keeping your ram watercooled may help increase the speed by 100-200 mhz cause it being kept so cool, but anything beyond that I would be highly sceptical, and there really is no reason to keep RAM watercooled other than it may clock slightly higher. It certainly isnt going to fry.

Basically what im saying is I wouldnt get my hopes up for dual sided water block.

Lol...the Titan X is a beast. Would love to see 4K Surround tested with 2-4 way SLI though. tongue.gif

I'm going to be doing benchmarks today/tomorrow/through the weekend when my 2x Titan Xs arrive in the next couple of hours vs. 3x 8GB 290Xs in 7680x1440p. thumb.gif

It is nice, but those were ran at medium detail. Imagine trying to run 4K surround at Ultra!

Looking forward to seeing your SLI numbers! thumb.gif

If the rumors are that the 390x will match or beat the Titan X then why would AMD price it so low? I mean Nvidia gouges their customers and it's all fine and dandy but AMD is supposed to be nice? If the 390X matches the Titan X then AMD can easily price it around the same, you would think.

Nvidia is again pricing their high end card at double the price of a couple of years ago. Only this time they don't have the "this is a professional card" excuse.

It's better to have more than too little. It was either 6 or 12. Without changing memory bus width or using sub-optimal techniques to fit anything in between, of course.

This means that the 980 Ti will come with 6 GB of VRAM, which will be just fine. That's what matters.
