As a single gpu its absolutley rapes anything else out there. Add in 12gb of vram its about as future proof as any gpu we've ever seen. Kudos for Nvidia for keeping the price at 1k. Also glad they don't have to have some butt ugly hybrid fan/liquid cooling solution like the 295x and soon to be 390x. Can't wait to SLI these.

the beautiful titan x cooler will throttle like no other. have fun thumb.gif

970 SLI is about 5% faster. But I would still pick the Titan X over them. biggrin.gif

Nvidia should have redesigned the cooler for the Titan X instead of recycling. I mean this is the biggest die they have ever released.

Soon Nvidia lowered price of GTX 780 to $500 and released GTX 780 Ti which was ~ 5-10% faster then 290X but for $700. The problem now is a faster card then 390X from Nvidia would be $850. Also while we dont know much about 390X (All speculations) a GTX 1080 or Ti cant be any more then a Titan X OC. At least 780 Ti had more Cores and 7GHz memory. Nvidia is going to have to battle AMD with price and power consumption if 390X beat Titan X.

Could be but as far as i know, batlling with price is not Nvidia. Thats more of an AMD thing.
Nvidia wants to be the King and they always counter with hardware. Maybe sometimes with price drops but not much.

The cheapest thing to do would be upgrading titanx, lowering mem amount and call it 980 Ti or whatever and sell it fo 50-100 more than 390x.
It would not cost more to just use other ram chips, production would not cost more but they would cash in on sales alot more i think.

And yes, Titan X buyers would be offended again but it would be an expected thing if 390x will be fast.
No pain no gain ;P

What than happens is exactly the same card as Titan X but only with 6-8 gb of ram. But how is it faster then? They slap the new Hynix 8Ghz RAM chips on it and it will be a Titan X but with +1000mhz on mem.

And it will have a non titan name smile.gif

We have to wait and see thumb.gifbiggrin.gif
That's my thought too biggrin.gif

And looking at various reviews, GM200 got some margin and can give an easy +10% on performance.
Adding new 8Gbps RAM + improved PCB, BIOS and custom cooling could bring a really impressive card.
Hope AMD got a serious contender though, things are always better with good competition.

The only option they would have is a dual gpu card and... well just look at the Titan Z... lol

Not sure but if they do it would have to be a better version of the core that comes with higher clock. If 390X is 5% faster a 100 MHz OC on Titan X core will beat 390X. They have done this is 9800 GTX, GTX+, GTX 285, GTX 770.

They have faster RAM ready.
Hynix has been suppling Nvidia and partners with native 8Ghz ram chips since november 2014
Thats what i ment with "upgrading"
Exact the same card with new RAM. If 390x is just as fast or faster they cant afford to cut down

That's a start. 8GHz memory and higher clock speed would make GTX 1080 ~ 10-15% faster then Titan X.

Has anyone found a review which reports on how the cards scale in 2/3/4way SLi? I have looked at a bunch but no-one seems to have reported on that yet? There are some benchies reporting the FPS, but no mention of how the cards scale when linked up in SLi. But then it may be too early as I'm sure certain reviewers will post their findings on the topic soon, as they did with the 900's.

Anyways if anyone has spotted a review reporting the scaling, then please share!!! wink.gif

2 way SLI reviews would be ideal mainly since not many will actually dive into 3 way/4 way

There was a site that did 3way if i rememebr correctly.. hard to say since im sleep deprived right now lol
