I wish they included 1440p benchmarks, to get a rough idea how they will perform on a 1440p/144hz

EDIT: got beaten by 56 seconds tongue.gif

Basically 2 Titan X's is about 15% faster that 3 GTX 980s (or 3 R9 290Xs).

On a different note....

Does anyone else find that G-sync is much better on a single card than Sli?

I've seen it talked about in different forums and have noticed a difference in my own rig...

I'm starting to think G-sync + single card is a better experience than G-sync + Sli

I went from 2 GTX 780's to 1 GTX 980 and have been using and Asus ROG Swift on both.

Personally, while the 2 780s was technically better and more powerful, I am actually enjoying the lack of headaches that multiple cards allows.

As far as G-Sync, I really haven't noticed anything G-Sync specific that makes me say 1 card is better than 2. It's just games in general that makes 1 card often times better than 2 ... or 3 or 4.

Nvidia wants to be the King and they always counter with hardware. Maybe sometimes with price drops but not much.

The cheapest thing to do would be upgrading titanx, lowering mem amount and call it 980 Ti or whatever and sell it fo 50-100 more than 390x.
It would not cost more to just use other ram chips, production would not cost more but they would cash in on sales alot more i think.

And yes, Titan X buyers would be offended again but it would be an expected thing if 390x will be fast.
No pain no gain ;P
It would cost more..... When Nvidia, or AMD make a chip their yield is never 100% perfection. The 970, and the 960 were made from the manufacturer of the 980. There are without question chips that don't make the cut as far as being a 'Titan x', and the 1080/1070/1060 will be made out of it. What you are suggesting is they should just forget about all those non-titan binned chips, manufacturer more chips, and that it will cost them nothing?

Well in the case AMd will be faster titan price wont drop and owners have to settle with having paid that much for 12GB and the Titan name. But it wont drop. And there will be another card faster than Titan X and cheaper. and yess since its full chip allready it will only be cut down on amount of ram but with new faster ram chips and higher clock. Just much cheaper. But yeah, titan wont drop smile.gif

Oh no, they can sell them. But if 390x is at least as fast as Titan X they just can not sell them as competition

He probably saw those already; he said he'd already seen SLI benchmarks with FPS numbers. I'm guessing he wanted %scaling figures specifically, or something to that effect. Which is something that can be extrapolated from all of the FPS data, for the most part.

Yes thanks I can get a rough estimate of the percentages, but if I'm gonna spend an extra £900 on a third GPU, then I'd like a bit more accurate results than 'rough'. LOL

I personally think that 2way SLi will be the sweet spot for the bang-for-your-buck. I was just curious to see how they scaled, especially as the leaked benchies showed that the cards scaled really well. The one thing that seems to be reoccurring in the reviews, is that the cards run quite hot when pushed. So it looks like water-cooling em is a must for top performance!!! thumb.gif

For me, with sli....despite the higher FPS the games don't actually FEEL as smooth as with 1 card

Even though 1 card has lower FPS....it actually feels BETTER than Sli

I'm not the only one who's noticed this, you can google it

Really put me off Sli as I was planning on getting 2 next generation cards to decimate 1440p once and for all...

The extremely high transistor count is causing the Titan X to hit high temps a lot faster than previous 28nm cards, yes. I'm waiting for my EK blocks + backplates to arrive before I really push mine...but i'll still check to see how far they can go on air. thumb.gif

That said, scaling should be what we're used to from Maxwell (and pretty much most cards regardless of vendor) - 2 cards is the sweet spot for games, wherein after, with 3 and 4 card setups, the gains are significantly less and become more cost prohibitive. For benchmarking though? The more cards, the better...but those numbers will be fairly synthetic of course, for the most part.

Feels as smooth to me, but regardless...that's what 144hz + G-Sync monitors are for. thumb.gif
