I don't have a need for this card either but I'm just hoping I can hold out until AMD delivers the 300 series. Not because the Titan X will be cheaper, but for improved cut-down versions like the Strix, Classy, Lightning. If they make a KPE I am seriously buying that even though it's useless for me considering I don't use DICE or LN2 for cooling.

There will not be aftermarket versions of the Titan-X, only external HSF's and blocks you can attach yourself.

The numbers are already there to reference and make an informed buying decision on. The only thing lacking is performance and overclockability with a voltage unlock/custom bios under water. Hit ~1500mhz+ on a Titan X and it's pretty much game over.

People are missing the point - this is a flagship-premium card. It's not meant to be a performance-per-dollar card, and it's not marketed as such. If the card isn't worth it to someone relative to the performance of current cards, well...that's cause it isn't. We can just all agree that this is an $800 card at best with a $200 premium for having the "Titan" branding on it, and a 12GB frame buffer. And since there's quite literally no single-GPU competitor to this (the 295X2 is a dual-GPU solution, as awesome of an alternative as it is), and it holds the "fastest single-GPU" crown right now...you have to pay to play.

I'm still not getting why it's so hard to understand that this card has ZERO value proposition. If you're having to constantly check the performance of a 980 and 290X before settling on the fact that the Titan X is roughly only 35% faster than a 980, and then thinking the Titan X is super-overpriced...well, there you have it. You're not the target demographic for this card, because you want performance-per-dollar. This card will not give you that, so you're right to steer clear of it.

And i'll mention again; why though, does the Titan X get so much flak for costing $450~ more than a GTX 980 at a 35% performance increase, but the GTX 980 doesn't get nearly as much for being what...15-20% better than a GTX 970, but for $200 more? No one seemed to have an issue with this before "VRAM-gate." Nvidia is squeezing as much as they can from the Titan X, and rightfully so; the ball has been in AMD's court for some time now, and we're still waiting. Believe me - I hope the 390X is a beast; but until it exists, and there's numbers to back it up...Nvidia has the single-GPU performance crown right now, and they're pricing it accordingly, thanks to the lack of competition. The beauty of capitalism.

wooo now, I agree with what u saying but... im saying looking at the benches I usually see the 290xs catching up with the performance difference that Maxwell has brought, which leads me to believe that if the 390x is around a 4000 core 8gb hbm, I think it will be faster than the titan x at 4k or above regardless of price. im also gona guess that when it releases it will be a lot cheaper that $1000, in gona guess at $750-$850 depending on branding and cooling which is why I think the titan x will look like a bad buy in a monthish lol even if the people buying titan x's don't care, obviously its not about price to the people buying titan x's in the 1st week as we all know what happens in the 1st month of a new gpu, the prices go a bit crazy until all the shops got them in stock anyway.

I will also go ahead and guess that an epic water cooled titan x vs an epic water cooled 390x is gona be real real close performance wise, may be the titan x will take the title this round at 1080p and 4k, but I think amd gona be real aggressive with pricing to get that market share back other wise amd gona be dead in the water, looking forward to the next few months smile.gif
