Premium Halo Products performance increase, never reflect their price accordingly.

See 4930K --> 4960X for example.
heck, you can even see it with 5820K --> 5960X.

At least NVIDIA is delivering a 32% performance increase, unlike Intel. wink.gif

And even then, a lot of people could argue that in relation to the 970 (pre-VRAM-gate, and maybe even after,) that $200 for an additional 15-20% performance wasn't worth the cost to the $350 GTX 970. And yet, the Titan X gets more flak for applying essentially the same logic. rolleyes.gif

Those of us paying for Titan Xs know there's a premium attached to them, and we're not likely concerned strictly with performance-per-dollar. Nvidia hasn't shied away from that notion - that's exactly how they market this card. There's more commentary about how people spend their money or the value of this card as opposed to anything else constructive in this thread. I think most of us believe that if AMD had been able to release the 390X by now, and actually had hard numbers for everyone, that we wouldn't be seeing the Titan X priced at where it's at necessarily. But since there's no competition at the moment, and you're alone at the top in terms of flagship performance + prestige of the name...why not charge that premium?

Get the card if you personally feel it's worth the investment + have a use for it/them, but stop trying to compare a flagship-premium card to everything else below it. Performance-per-dollar was never the logic behind the Titan X.

I'm surprised no one has said 3 970's are also $1000, why bother getting a TX. thumb.gif

Maarten obviously he could get 8 used 290's for the price of a TX, but that's to be expected.

This is the same argument we Titan owners had back when it launched in 2013 but what you fail to grasp is how much the landscape has changed since then. The original Titan was a performance bomb of a card dropped into the vacuum of having had no real flagship releases in a year prior (there was a major hunger for something new) and in which there would be nothing faster than it released in a loooong time (780Ti and 290X, both of which were really not significantly faster when OCing was taken into account). Those factors helped justify its cost at the time. Today, however, we just had the 980 released a few months ago and AMD is right around the corner with a 390X that could easily surpass the Titan X in outright performance while also being more impressive looking technology-wise. If you can't understand the fundamental difference this time around then there's really nothing I can say to change that...

Masked adamantly told everyone that a 780 was coming, and that was the gaming card to get and wait for, that didn't stop people from getting Titans. It showed up 3 months later.

The 390X is gonna be here ~June. Besides, we don't know the 390X's performance, it could be faster than TX, or it could not be, we never know when it comes to AMD until it actually shows up and is tested. wink.gif

People who want the best performance now, and are willing to pay for it, let them be. I'm positive you said something along those lines back then to the naysayers too. LOL, just for giggles

Yet, here you are telling people to wait for a card, that you have no idea how it will perform....

i'm kind of surprised we haven't seen any 1440p titan x sli benchmarks in regards to 120hz/144hz gaming.

Would have been nice, but i guess 60hz is the norm these days

I already know that. That's why I stated "for improved cut-down versions like the Strix, Classy, Lightning". Cut-down versions of the Titan X, ie. "780 of Gm200". The best we can get is an ACX cooler from EVGA as an aftermarket choice, but that doesn't improve the PCB at all.

I would love to be able to give you a 1440p + 144hz benchmark, but the XB270HU doesn't want to go up for sale in the US. mad.gif

In fact, i'm planning on 3 of those bad boys by Summer time if they ever release in the states...

This thread feels like we're back in 2013 when original Titan was released , people making same arguments it's only faster by x than xxxx it should be xxxx. really ? didn't learn anything ?
This is a PREMIUM PERFORMANCE CARD ! it's not supposed to be proportionally priced , it's not bang for a buck card.
First Titan was a test run for Nvidia and proved to be a massive success so what did you expect ?
Clearly there is a market for $1000 GPU otherwise you wouldn't see Titan Black or Titan X , if anything I'm surprised it's not more than 1k , honestly I expected some $1299
Lastly nobody is forcing anyone to buy this card , if you think it's overpriced there's simple solution DON'T BUY IT.
I almost bought original Titan but I decided to wait a little and it turned out to be a good choice because not much later 780 came out.
So lesson learned here , I'm waiting a little to see if NV is going to release this gen "780Ti" card , but I'm REALLY tempted to say ''oh sod it ' and buy Titan X
For now Titan X is the boss and it's for the people who
want top performance right now and are willing to pay good money for it, and good for them I bet they won't regret it .

I bet it's gonna make my 1440p Stalker Misery Experience so much better. If only Nvidia could process my order on Friday still not even an email.

Amen...this is what i've been saying all along. thumb.gif

As for a "780Ti of this gen," it's not going to happen in the same way; the Titan X is the FULL GM200 die, so what we're seeing is pretty much the limit of Maxwell/28nm for Nvidia. If anything, whatever else is released would likely be a cut-down GM200 with 6GB of VRAM to slot in between the GTX 980 and Titan X, and to counter the release of the 390X.

Where are you located? I ordered my 3rd Titan X direct from Nvidia on Friday morning (2am) for overnight shipping, and it shipped out later that day and is scheduled for delivery on Monday. Give their customer service a call on Monday if you still haven't received so much as an email confirmation by then.

I called them they sad they are doing some kind of billing check ( i bought it using my foreign credit card ) I bet I will have to reorder with american one on Monday. I was thinking of getting two but i see this SLI scaling in most games sucks... in Stalker I had almost 0% increase using 780 SLI...

But that again I haven't seen any good review of Titan X SLI yet. I will look at GTA 5 scaling and decide about second one.
