I'm sure this has been asked/answered before, but is there a specific reason the Amateur class gets the least amount of money? I would think that Pro and especially sponsored shouldn't necessarily need the money as much considering they are either Pro (paid do this sort of work is how I assume this is classed) or the build is partly/fully paid by some 3rd party entity.

IMHO amateur builds, such as these represented (and there are some great ones for sure), have usually sacrificed their own unpaid time and own monies to build/mod their respective setup. It would be great if that person got the most reward, given where this is all coming from. Understood, of course, if the rewards are coming from sponsors specifically, and there is no way around that. smile.gif

Anyway, thought I'd give my 2 cents. Apologies if this has been posed before, and feel free to refer to me as a n00b that clearly should research more on the site before posting. biggrin.gif

It's not a case of they deserve less, it's just to give the 'professionals' a reason to move up and leave the amateurs alone! lol.

Had a lot of fun reading through this thread, a lot of amazing builds and everyone stayed on track & friendly for once :D. This class is always our biggest but I think this months blows December's out of the water participation wise.

I've know a few pro modders and have helped a few of them, as best I could, typically with finding items last minute (from experience due to my ravenous habit of addictive upgrades tongue.gif). Man, the pressure they're on, the amount of money they also have to spend out-of-pocket, ordering last minute and paying $100 over-night shipping, dealing with delays, and not to mention the personal and family toll it can take on a pro modder. Some of these guys just don't get handed everything and a lot, I mean a lot, of effort, work, hours, blood, sweat, and tears go into these builds. Not only does it represent the sponsors, but it adds to the modders reputation and status in our community.

Now, its not to say an amateur doesn't go through some if not all these experiences, but the fact they're not fully establish as a pro or have deadlines to meet (sometimes set by sponsors or events where they will showcase their work), or have to pay for over-night shipping doesn't entail the same playing field imho. You have to get there, and sometimes it takes your own personal effort, money, and time to reach a level to be even considered by sponsor.

The compensation for Motm winner is justified imho as I know that the reward is greater the better and more experience you have. Just like any competition, you can be good, but you need to be that many times to be great. Not just once wink.gif
