[Various] AMD FreeSync Reviews - Page 114

It was a wrong decision and a waste of time to argue with people who only care about arguing for the sake of arguing.
None of the issues i have mentioned were truly resolved.

Yeah, I'm not bothering anymore. All the people whining about how terrible Freesync is are all the same people that would never have bought a Freesync monitor in the first place. If it says AMD on it then its crap and that's all they'll ever say about anything...

Oh really ?

I was fully ready to buy 2730Z or Asus IPS version +and then add 390X if they were able to deliver same experience as XB270HU + non titan gm200 since having multiple inputs would be usefull and saving bit of cash never hurts.

Behaviour below 40 fps would be acceptable if properly reflected in price but I'm not going to tolerate lack of overdrive on something that costs 600-700 EUR.

For this kind of cash I demand best possible solution and I've got no idea how anyone can accept less than that.

If you have a 970 chugging at 25FPS you really can't expect VRR to do a damn thing for you to start with...

my understanding is VRR (well from the first g-sync reviews i read some time ago) will make gaming ~35fps seem like ~60fps because of the fluidity. for me gaming ~47fps is my low end threshold and IF getting a vrr screen saves me from upgrading my gpu while increasing the resolution then its a win/win.

now i will keep in mind that my wants/needs are not for everyone. i don't know if everyone is a fan of crytek games, which is why i posted that benchmark and i'll admit is an outlier.

I said from the very start of FreeSync that I don't care who provides variable refresh, I would buy whichever is better. But I suppose if it makes you feel better to categorically dismiss all criticism of what is at this point clearly an inferior product, that's your business.

All in all, Freesync is indeed a success. Is it perfect at this moment? Obviously not. The ghosting issue will get resolved as panel makers tune their displays better. I really don't see VRR problems below 40FPS as a big deal.Anyone spending enough money on a display in this price range is going to have superior GPU's. If I'm rocking a single GTX 970, I sure as heck am not spending $700 on a display.

Unlike you some of us want a Freesync that is almost as good as gsync instead of a flawed mess we would have buyer's remorse about. rolleyes.gif

Acknowledgment of an issue would be bad.

The funny bit is, the derogatory reviews depict a "worst case scenario" which is too extreme in its reflection for the users to be dissuaded by. This is a default implementation of FreeSync and the lack of objective comparison of both the monitors and Adaptive Sync implementations next to the better image trail reduction option of "Blur Reduction" result in the omission of quite a big chunk of information for the reviews to be conclusive, imho. In the users best interest, this is a manipulative summary for the main reason that there is an another and better alternative of Blur Reduction which ironically is incompatible with both G-Sync and FreeSync in their current form. The "v-sync+triple buffering" latency delay of 7 ms is also a debate of subjective analysis when the trump card Blur Reduction can be selected.
